I propose that because the theists have held the right, for the last 2008 years, to the calendar, it is time they gave it up.It is time the atheist's got their turn. After all it is only an arbitrary setting , it is not as if the start of our yearly calendar is dependent on the birth of a single man.

I propose instead that the atheist point of origin should begin at the birth of the only super power in existence at this time..
Henceforth the calendar will state what was once called 1776 as now being the year zero . And this is now the year 228 Anno Domini Nostri America.

So which do you choose? God or Country.
A good idea, and I have chosen both.

As a matter of fact we're on the year -5 before my great communist revolution. Better start printing calendars now.

I think, I'm free.

Unfortunately for you, the former doesn't exist.

Only in your mind. Or rather in the mindset you try and promote as the only choice people can follow.

God cannot be willed into existence. No change to your mind or mindset or whatever can change the truth. And the truth is that there is no God.

If you disagree, feel free to join the thread in which people are attempting to put forth a rational basis for a belief in God.

That's a big truth to claim to know--argument from ignorance works both ways.

I think that the only acceptable calendar for atheists is one using the best science available. It needs to rely quantum physics, relativity, and work on multiple universes. Any volunteers wanna start?

What's up with the repetitive nature of calendars, anyway? Time doesn't repeat, why does the means by which we track it? I think we ought to agree on the length of a week, then every week will have a new name, totally whimsical, never repeated. Even the day names will change. No two days will have the same name.

It doesn't work both ways because the burden of proof is unequal.

As for integrating QM with GR, that's one tall order.

I don't think it's a particularly difficult issue. The only problem comes if you hold on to inappropriate intuitions, leading to a model that is in fact incompatible with the Big Bang.
