Weird physical quirks

I have these bulging half-spherical muscle sticking out of the upper outside of both feet that nobody else I know has. They're definitely muscle tissue because I can flex them...

I'm immune to novacaine. Specifically my teeth are immune to novacaine; my cheeks and tongue can be numb as a rock but somehow my teeth and jaw remain sensitive. This is supposed to be impossible. I have an understanding with my dentist; I meditate while he works as fast as he can. He's a good dentist. I've had some fast fillings.

I can't eat sucralose. Marketed as Splenda, other people put this artificial sweetener into everything. Pies, diet sodas, vitamin water...and they report that it tastes just like sugar. Where their tongue reports sweet mine reports chemical warfare; it has an incredibly strong bitter chemical taste that could not possibly be mistaken for sugar. I think my tastebuds must be different somehow because this one flavor is completely different for me and nobody else. This can make trying a new soda an adventure.

Your turn! Report anatomical oddities and weird minor superpowers. Have huge muscles in weird places? Share it with the world.

For some reason someone can hyperextend my elbow to the point it breaks before I feel any pain while standing. The other night, a black belt was doing a demonstration on me and thought I was trying to be a tough guy when I didn't tap out. So he informed me he had to teach me a lesson and gave up when he became too afraid that the joint was going to break.

Yet, somehow when I had my buddy apply a simple judo armbar that is from the ground I felt it immediately.

What makes a man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?

I can't stand handling chalk. I prefer not to ever ever ever ever touch any. I die just a little on the inside at the sight (not the sound) of chalk rubbing against a board. Horrid piece of garbage!

p.s. I'm not sure that counts...

I have this ability to bend my fingers right back; my children have also inherited this talent. When demonstrated to other people, it has a tendency to make them screw up their faces in revulsion and generate retching sounds ... which is quite satisfying.

If there were in the world today any large number of people who desired their own happiness more than they desired the unhappiness of others, we could have paradise in a few years.

How to be delicate about this? Mine is only only four inches.
But some girls like it that thick.

Oh yeah, another thing: I can stick out my tongue and touch the end of my nose.

Thanks for that image,

and your first quirk is weird too. I'm kind of disappointed, other than being above average in terms of stature (and not by much, I'm 6'3" given a little leeway, and 240ish pounds) I don't have anything out of the ordinary.

Ooh, I have a scar on my hand from being attacked by a death star.

A friend of my mother's had a profoundly physically quirky child. He could feel no pain. He was also mentally disfunctional, never developing beyond 18mths and with no capacity for language.

His lower brain functions kept him keen on food and he would often burn his hands, mouth and face, pinching food cooking in the oven.I often wonder what it would be like not to feel pain, yet still be mentally capable.

Anyways, it has been tragic for all in his family as the are all dead... Unbeknowns to him of course. He lives out his days as he has since adolescence in a mental health, high security, care facility... Unbeknowns to him of course.

I have a very large thumb-toe. Really, the thing is huge. It's easily as large as the next three biggest toes amalgumated together.

Hydrocephalus? Those cases are always sad, and challenging to manage. I used to work at a school for the disabled in Costa Rica. This isn't quite what I meant by quirk.

No not Hydrocephalus. Just a genetic quirk. He had no absolute diagnosis beyond Profoundly Disabled. Had it been picked up at birth, the recommendation would have been nil fluids.

Still, thats just the back ground to the actual quirk which was that he could feel no pain. What would that be like?... assuming a normal mind attached to the quirk.

Its really a most odd and quirky thing to contemplate is all.

I can't imagine lasting long without constant supervision, pain is a self preserving tool.

I was thinking that it would be dangerous yet kind of cool, and apparently I'm right. It also opens some interesting employment opportunities that I would never have thought of.

I get comments on my eyes, people tell me they are grey. My mother has green eyes and my fathers are blue, and mine are a mix that appear grey.

As in change in different lighting or just change every few months? If its the latter, yeah, that's weird. When I and the rest of the mutants take over the world you shall not be eaten like the other normals.

Those muscles in your feet that you were describing, I think I have the same thing. Did you take any type of martial art or play soccer when you were young? I think very developed ankle and upper foot muscles kind of go along with that physical attribute, and it's from, at least for me, needing to move my foot very quickly up or down for ball control (soccer) and target striking (tae kwon do).

That's really weird about splenda though for you. I have nothing like that. My strangest physical quirk is probably just the circumstances of my birth, since I'm an identical twin that was born 2 weeks late, with both my brother and I weighing nearly 8 lbs each. I've read that in such instances of birth for twins, especially identical twins, being born that late is very rare, especially being as heavy as we were.
