If there were in the world today any large number of people who desired their own happiness more than they desired the unhappiness of others, we could have paradise in a few years. Bertrand Russell |

Like all the other events which involve music, fun, young and feel-like-young people from all over Europe... It finished today as you probably know, and it has been kind a cool. It was fun to see all those people backing up their country representatives, so many different flags, and neither one ``political`` thought. A good example of how you can be patriotic and still don`t make other people feel bad about it... ``History will remember two types of heroes: ones ready to sacrifice own life for their ideal, and the others ready to sacrifice other people`s life for their ideal.`` - Nikolaj Velimirovic |

![]() Freedom Fighter Location: Belgrade, Serbia Posts: 47 | My mistake, there were ``politics`` involved if you like to see voting for neighbors as a political thing. I wanted to say that there was no negative politics background. For example, the guy from Slovenia telling us how they voted there, addressed people here with ``Hello, Serbian brothers``. We split about 15 years ago, almost in bloody conflict, there`s a lot of tensions still present today, but again, that sentence was a reminder how our two people are bonded and could have normally co-existed if only politicians didn`t have involved and made problems for their own benefit. ``History will remember two types of heroes: ones ready to sacrifice own life for their ideal, and the others ready to sacrifice other people`s life for their ideal.`` - Nikolaj Velimirovic |

![]() Freedom Fighter Location: Belgrade, Serbia Posts: 47 | So you say talent didn`t win? You also said you didn`t watch the show, so how do you know? Guy from Russia has a great voice, and on the scene with him there were also a World ice skating champion and a guy playing a Stradivarius violin. If that`s not expressing talent, I don`t know what is. Plus, if Russia won because of it ``political`` (I have to put marks again) support, then why didn`t it win all these years? Because, beyond support from neighbor countries, you need other countries to give you points as well. And you can only succeed that with a quality song. Serbia was a winner last year, because we got points from Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina... but also Finland, Sweden... This year, we finished 6th, or 7th, not sure, obviously because our candidate wasn`t as good as the previous one. UK doesn`t win because of the politics? No, it doesn`t win because it candidates crappy songs. ``History will remember two types of heroes: ones ready to sacrifice own life for their ideal, and the others ready to sacrifice other people`s life for their ideal.`` - Nikolaj Velimirovic |

![]() Moderator Location: Reading, UK. Posts: 6,787 | No, I did watch it. Re-read my post. I said I may escape. I didn't. I'll admit, the Russian song was nowhere near the worst of the songs on show - Germany springs to mind, or, however amusing, the Spanish entry - but by no means was it the best.
