The Body after Death

A sad and depressing subject, but one that may prove interesting to discuss.

When you die, what would you like to be done with your body? Buried? Cremated? Donated? Or something else? Or do you simply not care?

What do you want to happen to your corpse?

For me, i guess i'd want it donated to a museum or the like as to educate future generations about the body and how it functions.

My organs are already down for donation.

I want the rest of my body cremated and scattered somewhere nice.

Can you fix the poll for multiple answers?

Yeah, "I don't care" is a close second. Considering the shape most of my organs are already in, they might decline my donation. In that case, I don't care. Grind me up and feed me to the pound puppies for all I care.

I guess I am a rare breed that cares about what happens to my body. I have given the subject some thought and I just dont like the idea of strangers cutting me open and doing God knows what to me after I am dead, I would like to not have an autopsy if it could be avoided and I would prefer it if I didnt have to have all my blood drained out, just respectfully put me in an incinerator and scatter my ashes in the ocean or something, that way there is no risk of graverobbing or anything. It is probably kind of weird to care so much but I have seen videos of autopsies and also one of some son of a bitch who mutilated some girls corpse and plucked out her eyes and put them in inappropriate places, and I would just like to not be in that position if it can be avoided.

I am still going for cannibalism. It just makes so much sense.
Look at all the money the mourners could save. No paying for a coffin which is just going to rot, instead all they have to do is rent a large deep fryer , throw in a few bags of chippies and some beer and there you go. funeral and catering all taken care of.

Didn't we have another thread on this recently?

What makes a man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?

I think that was about the existence of heaven and hell, but i'm not sure. This thread covers what people want to happen to their body when they die.

Fed to some crocs, or ground up for fertiliser.
I don't care, death is just a window opening to another life.

No worms. They stack and can be stacked high so it doesn't waste all the open ground slots plus its far easier to maintain. Space saving while still leaving the body for family to visit and leave respects.

So many people don't think about the cares of those left behind. Just saying your dead and gone so eat me up doesn't leave much for grieving wives to come and visit.

In an ideal situation I'd like my organs donated. Cause of death might prevent that. My husband wasn't able to.
I prearranged my burial next to him when I made his arrangements.

The japanese have a little shrine in their homes (a photo, and a candle type thing) for their dead loved ones.

To me, that makes more sense then a grave..

((warning: could easily be wrong. My knowledge comes from anime))

I think you may be right. I know objects from past family members are kept on display as a sort of shrine in their honor.

I'm at the cemetery quite a bit. Hubby is buried next to the children's section. Those grave sites get a lot of traffic. I hardly ever see people at the crypts or mausoleums.

I really don't care, actually. It would be nice if any usable bits could be recycled somehow, organ transplants, medical school, fertilizer, whatever. I'm all about conservation of resources after all.

Over here in new zealand a fad has started of putting solar powered lights that give a soft blue glow next to the grave. It looks a bit eerie but very nice when i drive by at night.

I've heard of people having their ashes super heated and compressed, and made into an artificial diamond, that can be put on a ring and worn by a loved one.
