![]() Holy Zarquon! Location: Australia, Nsw Posts: 27 | i would definantly say i liked zaphod better in the book and modern movie in the BBC series he acted as if he was trying to gainthe approval of the others with a constant need for attention, in the modern movie he was still an attention seeker but he new he was awesome and he was more laid back and had a rock super star personality, unfourtunatly i saw the movie before i read it so i had my visualisation of the each charicter in my head already, anyone who has not seen the movie or series should definantly read the book first |

![]() BANNED Location: between the good and the bad Posts: 1,330 | I believe both versions so far the early eighties series I grew up with in my young teens, and the latest movie are based on Douglas Adams rip books of the late seventies, the latest movie was ok in parts unfortunately got a bit bogged down with silly politically correct platitudes in parts, as most movies now seem too in some way or another. The BBC TV series was pretty good, no cgi of course, so modern viewers may look at it with distain, but really good characters well acted, and amusing antidotes in them.'Ford Prefect, Zaphod, Dent, Trill and Marvin are much better acted and characterised in this than the movie, um marvin in the movie, yeah the less said the better. |

![]() Cabbages and Kings Location: England Posts: 356 | The whole series is brilliant and I would totally recommend it. I was introduced to the books through the BBC television series which I though was very good, it is available on DVD and worth watching. As to the film, to say was a disappointment would be an understatement. It is the only set of stories that made me laugh out loud while reading. The books are much better in my opinion, but that is almost always my opinion. Absurdity and sarcasm in a wonderful little package. Who could want more? Though I wasn't as disappointed by the movie as some. I tried to view it as a new experience rather than trying to make it make it fit with my images from the book. By the way, I'm currently reading Michael Palin's memoirs. Turns out Douglas Adams and Graham Chapman were great friends as far back as the early 1970s. The cross currents of genius.
