Too many advices would defintely confuse him. He is a mature person I believe.

Let him educate himself further reading threads on vegetarianism and non-vegetarianism and tell his final decision to us.

Bah, bring them along, face your fear, just make sure its high enough so that theres no pain on the off chance something tragic does happen.

Eat what's healthy, lean meat is healthy, fruit is healthy, fresh vegetables are healthy. Sod what everybody else thinks, just do what you think is best.
