You think, "I'll just get me a costume, rip off the neighborhood kids." Next thing you know, you've got a jet shaped like a skull with lasers on the front! -The Monarch |

| revolution Posts: 25 | To have every thought ex-posable would not be a utopia. All walls of privacy would fall. all humiliations brought to light. Blackmailing would be so easy. No though or idea would ever be private. Life would soon be chaotic and awful. this is the problem, looks good on the drawing board but would inevitably wreck destruction on the human race. |

However, when everyone can read everyone elses minds, then we will find out that we're all quite similar. Judge me because im jealous of that girls legs? 50 other people had the exact same feeling - it becomes normal to have faults and insecurities. Because it is normal. No one will be able to pretend they are perfect anymore, and no one else will expect perfection. Well.. this is only a theory. Who knows what would really happen. lol! ![]() The Cake is a lie... Location: St. Louis Posts: 2,388 | Nothing would get accomplished because it would be like getting in a fight with your best friend who knows all your secrets except that you're not friends with the rest of the world. Try and get someone to do something they don't want to do when they have evidence that you're a hypocrite as we all are from time to time. What makes a man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality? |

I would be DEAD if people knew what I was thinking, my thoughts can be brutal towards other people sometimes. No doubt my boyfriend would break up with me. Sometimes white lies are necessary to maintain peace, you can't always be honest! Think of all the catfights girls would have, all the insecurity issues everyone would have. Not to mention board games would cease to exist! And surprises... everyone loves those. I would hate to not know if my thoughts were only to myself, they would begin to be censored and lead to mundane, "safe", wholly pure and rational thoughts. Who would want that? Plus CSI is just such a good mystery... The good thing would be is that justice would be achievable, and people would be entertaining, and we would know what Britney was REALLY thinking - letting her babies drive like that... |

| blasphemer Location: Michigan Posts: 8,417 | I understand your point, though I think there is too much dishonesty around. I try to be an exception. For example, I can look to government and, with little embarassment, say "They f'd up the world." I usually don't get pelted with rocks for syaing such things in public. The safety issue with free speech really depends on where you are. Of course, reading a person's thoughts is arguably different than free speech seeing as to how people often think of terrible things they would rather not do. But yes, it certainly could get one into deep trouble. And some people get offended very, very easily (not that we should cater to such types). Grandpa h. ![]() Away Location: Scotland, Central Lowlands Posts: 3,317 | No way. I have too many secrets which could be used against me. It's the same argument against government surveilance: they can't be trusted with it. If we could trust the government to use the surveilance only to protect our rights, then it's a good idea. However, we know that this isn't the case and that governments all too often use their power to deny us our freedom. Secrecy is one of the only weapons the oppressed have against the oppressors, and I wouldn't be willing to surrender it. Last edited by The Bacon Guy; Mar 3, 2008 at 02:46 pm. |

| Molten Ash Posts: 49 | So which group would you choose to be in if you had the choice? Group A: Nobody can read your thoughts, but neither can you read anyone elses. Group B: Anyone in Group B can read your thoughts and you can read theirs. If Group A and B were to coexist in the world, which group would you want to belong to? |
