That you may retain your self-respect, it is better to displease the people by doing what you know is right, than to temporarily please them by doing what you know is wrong. W. J. H. Boetcker |

![]() BANNED Location: between the good and the bad Posts: 1,330 | You say you don't like extremes right? Well isn't anyone classed as black like Negro, by political correctness, even if they are mostly white, isn't that an extreme, can't they say without being howled down by the race lobby 'well I am also white as well', you know one of these fascinating grey areas you like? |

Anyway... My philosophy regarding gray areas has nothing to do with ethnicity. I'm talking about philosophical extremes. I disagree with those who contend people are either conservative or liberal, republican or democrat, good or evil, positive or negative, and yes, gay or straight. Life is too complex to attempt to portray it as limited to only two choices. It's as ridiculous as describing myself as happy or sad. Some days I'm one, some days the other and most days a combination of both in unequal measure. If you put any extreme position as X on a scale, and the extreme opposite as Y on the same scale, I contend most of life occurs somewhere along the scale, not at either end. The only event in life that I can see with no opposite state, no shade of gray, is death. Death comes to all without degree. It's the one absolute we can all be sure we'll experience. I see no value in living an either/or computer type life. My brain is able to cope with other values, I can discern nuances a computer, or a person who thinks life is limited to only the extremes, cannot. And that ability makes life worth living for me. Contrary to your feeling, to me; 1. Nobody infact really feels that he won't exist one day or would die. What you are refering to is one's mental calculation, logical reasoning with reference to other's death. 2. What is said in 1 is not real feeling because nobody has seen his own death and described it to others. All calculate what happened to others would happen to Him also. Well, I would tell what is real feeling ! I have feeling that I am Man and not a women, that I am something unexplainable...and the like. 3. Therefore, nobody can be sure that he would die till he actually would die. After actual death, only he would know his position. I feel he would remain as close to as, as if he is in dream. ???? Can't prove with physical body in tact cviz before actual death.4. Finally, I can see opposite state to death as life and shade of gray as sleep and dream. So, all four states, Life(wakeful state), Sleep, Dream and Death, all exist in the same scale as you have put for rest of items, sexuality in particular, the topic of discussin !!!! ![]() | |
