| Fanuary You might be aware of a scheme called Movember to promote awareness and funds for men's health issues such as prostate cancer and depression. For the month of november men are asked to grow moustaches, starting clean shave on november the 1st and growing the moustache till the end of the month. Well now some clever spark has come up with a similar campaign for women health issues such as cervical cancer. This one is called Fanuary and women are been asked to start clean shave on the first and grow their hair till the end of the month. And i don't mean the hair on there heads. Some of the suggested styles include: Quote:
The company that created this campaign says it can all be done with decorum and good taste. So what do you think. would you support this or would you agree with the cancer society. | |

| Inquisitor | Does already having a mustache and beard make me a trend setter...finally? This sounds silly. Men start growing mustaches all the time and decide to shave randomly. How would anyone be able to make the connection between a new mustache and support for "men's issues"? And where do the "funds" figure in? Is someone going to pay men for growing facial hair, or do they have to pay someone to do that? And as to the women's efforts, the suggestion is downright weird. How does doing something only a select few will ever see accomplish anything? Do they model the results? Is the discomfort and potential disapproval of those who don't appreciate their hirsute mate supposed to be the reminder of why they're doing this? As much as I'm getting tired of seeing a rainbow of ribbons for every cause under the sun, at least that symbol is visible and understood. This program sounds like a farce. | no its a true promotion there is a lot of advertising for the movember campaign and people donate money for it . the moustache growing is just a bit of fun and guys get there pictures in local papers and the tv news does a feature on it during november. Just a fun way of promoting a charity. I think the idea is they send in pictures which will be displayed |

| Inquisitor | Fanny? They're going to grow hair on their fannies? That wasn't the impression I got. Be sure to provide a link. We need these things substantiated, you know. ![]() (At that point this thread may have to move to the adult forum) The Forum Rules Radical Atheist Jeber's A belief which leaves no place for doubt is not a belief; it is a superstition. | Errrr....hope I didn't violate a rule with my previous post. I didn't even know there was an "adult" forum (until now, that is). I don't want you to die for your country. I want you to live so that you may serve another day. |

Over here a fanny is a term used to mean vagina, but I just realised that in America a fanny is a term you guys use for the ass. Tsk, sorry I forgot how you guys usually get things back to front.:) Quote:

| Inquisitor | I'm having trouble drinking my coffee while thinking about a Brit telling a Yank in a bar, "I really like the growth of hair on my girlfriend's fanny".
