| Igneous Magma Posts: 354 | self discovery on drugs Many of us heard the story of someone learning the secrets of the universe on certain hallucinogens, and i'm pretty sure they are just really high and it'll all be silly later, but I believe internal discoveries can be made. I mean the visions and sights you witness have to come from somewhere, and the only 2 places I can think off are the surroundings, and your own head. |

I suspect it has more to do with altering your normal, everyday perceptions just enough to make reality seem foreign to you. I've tried everything from booze to acid to mushrooms in my life, and honestly, I can't think of a single insight those gave me that either sounded totally nonsensical later or were obvious to me even when straight. It didn't show me anythign I didn't already know, but it's still a beautiful experience and I'm better because of it. Acid is great because it destroys the ego. At least temporarily. On a less cosmic note, I couldn't believe when I first did lsd, how exactly alike the visuals and general feel of the experience are to such psychadellic chiches as lava lamps and tie dye. Look out kid, they keep it all hid. |

Overall, in my own life experiences, my perception is that people who self medicate are much more open minded, and therefore, better people to associate with on a personal level. I have friends, that don't fit the mold, but they're a much rarer find. |

What made sense then, still makes sense now. People are quick to assume that LSD just puts it all in your head and it's not real.... but everything we experience in our lives is in our heads technically..... it all has to reach the brain in some fashion or another. Not to mention the fact that the eyes end up with dilated pupils to an extreme, this would allow for more light and information to pass through to the brain more then normal. The things I have observed while on LSD, like a table, a pictures, a wall, a rock, all never "Jumped Out" or started talking to me in some foolish manner..... they all just move within the confines of their existence.... they stay right where they are... just themselves move within themselves..... perhaps on explination would be that your dilated pupils are observing much more detail on the surface of these things.... perhaps observing the collective of it's atoms in activity, as somethings sometimes look grainy or fuzzy. If you ever look at a photo of nature, say like a beach or a forest, you can usually see the clouds, the water, the leaves in the trees all moving ever so slightly.... like as it was in the brief moment in time when the photo was taken. There is a lot that can be learned if you know how to focus your attention while on LSD. Which is why I sometimes think the Hippies had it all right back in the 60's.... they were just too damn passive to make a dent in changing the world. Hell, I'd love to get high everyday, walk around naked and have sex with everybody, but The War on Drugs put a damper on that..... ..... party poopers. |

| Igneous Magma Posts: 354 | The brain fires off random signals, but we are far from understanding the brain, the signals may seem random, but it is equally possible its just a really really complicated pattern. And what about what those signals send, perhaps the brain (sends multiple signals to and from both the conscious mind and the subconscious. Perhaps inner thoughts and perspectives bound for the subconscious end up in your eye, or your ear. It makes you randomly release signals, but does it change the message, or is there another signal in the way of the couch that makes it different. When people are in a good state of mind they have a good experience, bad state of mind, bad experience, the mind comes into play someway or another. |
