Its a simple solution actually. Arm EVERY adult that gets on the plane.
How likely is a terrorist to take over a plane if everyone else is armed as well?
Airlines could issue Weapons at boarding and take them back when the passengers get off. Its a cheap long term solution. also a good deterrent.
I don't normally support guns but in this particular instance I do.
Of course you might need some kind of extra shielding for the fuel and plane shell have to make sure the bullets were not particularly strong enough to kill a human not enough to penetrate steel etc, but it would probably be worth the extra effort...or alternatively arm everyone with Tasers.

Then whoever locked it will have to break out the window to get out the front. Then a pilot could crawl in the broken window when no one was looking. That wouldn't work at all!

Why not take a page from the Israeli's and kill terrorists who try that crap? When's the last time they had a plane hijacked?

Then again, I like the ejection seat for passengers idea. Do we parachutes too?
