| Sedimentary Rock Location: "Moral" Heartbeat of America Posts: 13 | Online dating I am doing a project on communication issues in online dating. For anyone who has done it or has an opinion on it, do you think this is yet another issue to add to the long list of communication problems or is it actually a good thing? Also, any experiences with specific sites for used for online dating would be helpful! ...She lives in the illusion that the future will be sound If her eyes were Pecola Blue- The bluest ones around. |

| Igneous Magma Posts: 354 | There is nothing wrong with online dating, if your not stupid and meet them in a public place first its the same risk as regular dating, the only difference is that it helps you look at more people and narrow it down to more of your type, as well as giving shy and not so social people a better chance at dating and even working on their Mac without much personal humiliation. |

| Principled Observer Location: Toledo, Ohio Posts: 13,877 | I have used online sites to meet people, some for dating, some as friends, some as political activists. I have not used any of the polled sites. I appreciate the choice of online dating, meeting and organizing, and value them. | Hot Lava Location: Redlands, CA Posts: 2,347 | While my wife would be very unhappy if I was out looking for a date, frankly I would never use any of those sites, simply because the people who use them are the ones who are so pathetic they can't find a date any other way. That's not to say you can't make friends online and I've made a lot of them, but if I was looking for someone special to spend my life with, it wouldn't be getting set up by a computer. |

| BANNED Location: Los Angeles Posts: 3,203 | I was going to put none, but then I realized I've used facebook to get some. However, I have to say, they were always people I knew in real life, but happened to be browsing their facebook picture, remember how much i liked them, and then pursued something. currently though i found my first crush form elementary school, and have been talking with her, and i keep asking her out, and she keeps replying without an answer! Its really interesting how online conversations work. |

![]() The Cake is a lie... Location: St. Louis Posts: 2,388 | I've communicated with girls I was already dating through Facebook, if that counts... Also it seems to be becoming more and more trendy in college for a relationship either two people together or breaking up, to not be official until it says it on your respective profile. What makes a man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality? |

| The DON Posts: 256 | My theory on online dating is this, I am 25 and live by myself and with the bills coming in every month I have to work two jobs just to get by, so that leaves little time for me to actually go out and meet someone. So I tried the online dating thing, and it has worked out very well. There are many people who just dont have the time anymore to go out and meet someone. But on the flipside, people can make themselves out to be absolute diamonds in the rough, hiding their true identity, as chris hanson would put it. Every profile says the same thing, outgoing, fun, loves to laugh and have a good time. I am not a moron, if they alll say the same thing then someones got to be telling a fib somewhere. |

| Sedimentary Rock Location: "Moral" Heartbeat of America Posts: 13 | Interesting. I'm 21 and I tried it a year ago on Second Life, to near disasterous results. I wasn't crazy enough to give a lot of personal info or anything, but it was pretty wild. Internet dating provides an arena for people to misrepresent themselves in ways they never would've dreamed with face to face relationships. ...She lives in the illusion that the future will be sound If her eyes were Pecola Blue- The bluest ones around. |

| GSD Protection Location: Midwest Posts: 83 | I think you could put a large majority in all 4 categories! There was a guy around here that was meeting women on the internet, convincing them to meet and then killing them and puttnig them in barrels. People are too creapy for words.
