| Molten Ash Posts: 90 | Huckabee you ignorant slut. No, this is not a thread criticizing Gov. Huckabee for saying he doesn't believe the theory of evolution. Or that he claims to talk to God on his cellphone. You will have to make up your own minds on those issues. But now he says that "According to the law of aeronautics and the wingspan and circumference of the bumblebee, it is aeronautically impossible for the bumblebee to fly." No scientist ever said that ignorant nonsense, and no 'law of aeronautics' or law of physics ever proved "It is aeronautically impossible for the bumblebee to fly." Anyone who believes or repeats such nonsense without bothering to check their facts should never be allowed to be anywhere near nuclear weapons. >>>--~(ô¿ô)~---> |

"As to the Huckabee/bumblebee comparison, he noted the old saw that if one considers the size, shape and “aeronautical design’ of the insect, “it’s scientifically impossible for the bumblebee to fly. But the bumblebee, being unaware of these scientific facts, flies anyway.” Similarly, the former governor said, he has proven himself politically airworthy." Here's another source, with information taken from training manuals used in the American Navy: Laws of Aerodynamics- all 3 of them! - WattFlyer RC Electric Flight Forums - Discuss radio control eflight Here's something from NASA: Newton's Laws of Motion Now, whether the physiological make-up of the bumblebee is suited to aerodynamics may be subject to debate but Huckabee did have at least some remote concept of what he was referring to. | Volcanic Erupter Posts: 3,766 | The saying about the bumblebee is an old tale that no one has ever put real credence to, similar to red sky at morning, sailors take warning, red sky at night, sailors delight. Huckabee was merely making a reference to his campaign defying the so-called laws of politics by making a comeback when conventional election wisdom labeled his campaign dead. Those unable to understand the difference between a literal interpretation of what he said and his application of a figure of speech are the real ignorant sluts. | pregnant with truth Posts: 2,260 | not sure about that. We can survive through a Hillary term because there'll be just enough opposition to allow the citizens to control her agenda through the legislature and public opinion. If Huckabee gets elected we've expanded these extremist's "mandate". Make no mistake, the reason he sort of leads in the polls indicates his function. It's early. He'll be put under the scope for a minute while the public tries to confirm this likely fabricated or poorly generated poll result. Time is bought and just as they say, it means nothing. It's likely just to take some heat off the main man Rudi for a sec. The major media sources are calling the latest straw poll meaningless. They know this because Ron Paul is the next president. Besides, If we republicans nominate Huckabee, we've handed the election to Hillary most likely. Actually that statement applies to every republican candidate except Ron Paul |

What does worry me is his belief that the federal government is free to usurp state's rights just because he personally thinks it should. I'm more concerned with his ignorance of the Constitution than I am his ignorance of science. [quote]Huckabee was merely making a reference to his campaign defying the so-called laws of politics by making a comeback when conventional election wisdom labeled his campaign dead.[quote]Well, good. Then let's hope that his campaign is just a matter of careless calculation, just like the bumble bee story. When bumble bees were actually studied according to the laws of aerodynamics, it was found that they always could fly. Quote:
By the way, Wikipedia says, "The method assumes small amplitude oscillations without flow separation. This ignores the effect of dynamic stall, an airflow separation inducing a large vortex above the wing, which briefly produces several times the lift of the aerofoil in regular flight. More sophisticated aerodynamic analysis shows that the bumblebee can fly because its wings encounter dynamic stall in every oscillation cycle."
