| Volcanic Erupter Posts: 4,375 | After nearly 30 years of practice and training, I don't own any guns. At all times on my person I have at least one concealed blade of a fiber-composite material that does not set off metal detectors. I have a few Japanese wooden swords that will break bone but not slice through skin... at least not intentionally. And I have what effectively amounts to throwable scalpels. I can hold them concealed or throw with eyeball accuracy at 30 feet. All of my "pokey things" are kept in a place that only a 6 foot tall person an reach, and the wooden swords are kept out. My children and my wife are also learning basic strikes with them and how to hit correctly for a bone-break. With the way my daughter fights, she's a weapon in her own right. Makes a papa proud. IT'S A BOY!! |

I have a plithora of information and web links to basic combat survival knife fighting if anybody is interested. Granted, you do sometimes have a better chance of survival if you are gun vs. gun, or blade vs. none, but there are various methods of taking someone out who has a firearm at close/medium distances with a knife or short blade, and there's no bullets, so it's cost effective as well. ![]() Oh and when it comes to knife vs. knife, it's not like the movies.... whether you win or loose, expect to get sliced up a bit.

My .45 CAL Glock however, will knock your ass down sideways in an epic bloody show, even if I hit you in the arm. If I hit center mass, as I practice doing often, you will be well on your way to your maker before your knife wielding ass even hits the ground.
