Indeed, this is interesting.

I have little to offer in the way of opinion over the vote, but I though it interesting, and truly, quite funny.

It's very odd, but I understand the logic. The last thing the Dalai Lama would want is to be succeeded by a Beijing puppet. It's a surprising level of pragmatism, though.
