New Terminator Trilogy - I can't wait

New "Terminator" Trilogy Planned (May 10th 2007)

Quote:
"Terminator 4" will be based on a script by John Brancato and Michael Ferris ("Terminator 3"), and Halcyon plans to immediately begin preproduction on the film with the hope of a Summer 2009 release.

Neither creator James Cameron or original star Arnold Schwarzenegger will be involved in the project, which picks up with John Connor in his 30s leading what's left of the human race against the machines.
I hope they do justice to the original trilogy, unlike Star Wars, and not produce crap!

I don't know about you, but I thought John Connor in Terminator 3 looked like a wimp. The John Connor in Terminator 2 was much much better.

T3 to me felt disconected to the first two.... like some half-assed story thrown in to make it continue on.

I hope it does improve. I mean the 3rd was still good in it's own ways and twists, but I dunno....

I also seen on a commercial just yesterday that there is also going to be a Terminator TV series on Fox called the "Sarah Connor Chronicles"

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quote:
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is an American television series scheduled to begin on Sunday, January 13, 2008 on the U.S. television network Fox. It is a continuation of the Terminator film franchise. Produced by Warner Bros. Television and C2-Pictures, it will revolve around the life of Sarah Connor, and her son, John Connor after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

The series is being executively produced by Terminator 3 producers and C2 Pictures co-presidents Mario Kassar and Andrew G. Vajna, C2 Senior Vice President James Middleton, David Nutter, and Josh Friedman, who is also writing.
Quote:
The series, initially titled The Sarah Connor Chronicles, will focus on the character Sarah Connor, who is on the run with her son after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Regarding the character, Middleton says, "She has the weight of the world on her shoulders and also has to raise a teenage son who may be the salvation of humanity." Friedman comments that the series will contain fewer action sequences due to the smaller budget of television in contrast to feature films......

......In a June 20, 2007 interview, Friedman revealed that the writers and producers are going to avoid the Terminator of the Week plot device and that Sarah, John, and Cameron will have other threats than just Terminators. Skynet will also come into play as the series progresses. Furthermore, Friedman stated that the events of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines have no bearing on this timeline, but do occur in an alternate timeline. In addition to having planned the entire story arc for the first season, Friedman has a rough idea for the plot of the following three seasons.
Quote:
Back story

At the end of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Sarah, John and the Terminator successfully destroy the T-1000 and the arm and computer chip from the first Terminator. Sarah and John then watch as the Terminator is lowered into a molten steel pit in an attempt to destroy all future technology that could be used to create Skynet. Sarah and John now find themselves alone in a very dangerous and complicated world. As fugitives from the law, they are confronted with the reality that still more enemies from the future, and the present, could attack at any moment.

Summary

Prompted by the return of the Terminators into their lives, Sarah and John decide to stop running and focus on stopping the birth of Skynet. They are aided by Cameron, a Terminator who poses as a student at John's school and whose mission is to protect John. Meanwhile, an FBI agent named James Ellison pursues Sarah and John with the belief that Sarah is deranged.

An advanced script review by TV Squad revealed that time travel will play a major role in the series premiere including a temporal leap for the main characters from 1998 to the current year. This was also confirmed by the trailer posted on the Fox Fall Preview page for the show. Three video clips from the upcoming series premiere published on the IGN website included the evil Terminator using Sarah's voice over the phone to find John, Sarah and John fighting over their current situation, and the evil Terminator looking for John, Sarah, and Cameron at the Dyson residence.
Sounds interesting I will say... could be the missing link required for the story... but if T3 was on a different timeline, then wtf is the point of T3?

I second the half ass attempts at T3.

Sort of like the Freddie line, kept getting worse and worse.

But if people will pay to see and buy the toys then by all means why should they not keep going. bring on Terminator 16: Truth behind the machines: Jesus agenda!

T3 was definitely inferior to the T2 & T1, but I still thought it was a pretty good and exciting movie. Maybe I just enjoyed the concept and found it interesting to see how the war began!

T4? Oh, god, say it isin't so! Give ya'll a hint how old I am and just how old the original Terminator is....Way back in ancient times, the mid-80's, this new thing called HBO came to television(Cinemax followed shortly after...). Home Box Office network, the greatast thing ever! Do you guys know how many times a 10/11year old girl came home from school everyday and watched Terminator? How I drooled over the guy who was John's father!! I thought he was the cutest, not too mention I actually liked the movie, used to have it memorised word for word. T2 was pretty good too. Liked it. T3...mmm...well...it was alright. But T4?? Ugh. And I agree, the atrocities that were the new Star Wars movies! Shame on George Lucas! Shame on him! The scoundrel. All these intervening years and he could not have done better than that! For shame!

If you want the country to go to hell in a handbasket, then vote for the one who can drive you there blindfolded.

You know the worst part? It's not going to even be like the Star Wars Failures.... cuz it's not James Cameron continuing any of it from what I know.....

Does that mean it's going to be an even more catastrophic failure compared to Star Wars, or will the new approach actually being the series into something greater?

Star wars would have been much better if the first 2 were just as dark as the 3rd. That and actors with skill imo.

Also they could have killed off the comic relief or done without it.

Lucas could have made an amazing 1-3, but IMHO his tastes were more to make a movie to max profits off toys and the name royalty.

Why?
I made a visual comparison of John Connor (in "Terminator3") with a meaning of the word "wimp".

I have a feeling its going to blow!

I have a feeling that the new trilogy will have a poor plot, but will have great visual and action scenes.

Christian Bale as John Connor!

Now that's a good start!

E! News - Bale Goes Batty for Terminator 4 - Christian Bale
Quote:
John Connor won't just be back. He'll also be bat.

The Dark Knight himself, Christian Bale, has signed on to star as the heir to the cyborg-battling rebellion in Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, the long-awaited fourth installment in the Terminator franchise.

While details on the film's plot have been kept under tight wraps, per the Hollywood Reporter, the action this time around will follow Connor, now in his thirties, leading the remainder of the human race in its ever-worsening battle against the machines.

However, reports have also been circulating that Bale's role, despite the party tag line, will not be as leading as it seems and that while Connor will indeed lead the rebellion, the next batch of films will actually feature a different character at the center of the action.

Taking on a smaller part in the series would seemingly make sense for Bale, who will no doubt need to devote increasing amounts of time to the revamped Batman franchise in future years.

The Terminator rocked.

T-2 was great.

T-3 sucked, really sucked.

I am betting the tv version is just an attempt to make money off the name, and will suck as much a T-3.

I agree that T3 was crap, I just rewatched it a couple weeks ago because I forgot how bad it was and regretted it.

The TV series looks really good, the first episode alone had more story in it than all of T3 and the effects were movie-grade. Even though they're making some changes before airing it in January, I hope it's going to keep the same feel.

I have no hope for any more Terminator movies, as far as I'm concerned, the series ended at T2.

Jesus loves me? No thanks, I don't swing that way.

SPOILERS for the TV show.

The Pilot for the Sarah Connor Chronicles has been on the torrent networks since like last May.

Quite a bit of it didn't make a whole of sense... IE why a Terminator would have to hide a 9mm in his leg. Or at the end when they randomly decide to jump forward in the future from 1999 - 2007 even though Judgment Day hasn't happened yet by that date in this Timeline either.

The acting was iffy. Think early X-Files-ish.

However, the special effects were pretty damned awesome. Also, they reverted back to the T1, T2 Terminator designs so they look significantly less stupid than what they became in T3. While they didn't show any HK's in the pilot I'm assuming that means if they do, they'll look like they used to and won't have stupid red Scooby Doo eyes.

Frankly, I'm not concerned how it does even though I'm a huge fan of the franchise since we essentially already have a Terminator show that's good already. The New Battlestar Galactica is essentially Terminator meets Star Wars anyway.

As far as the new Terminator Movie is concerned, I'm not happy. Supposedly they have the guy who did Charlie's Angels (1 and 2) to direct and I just don't see Christian Bale as John Connor. Maybe my choice is too old now but I've always thought of Michael Ironside as a middle aged John Connor. Particularly after Starship Troopers. He was the best part of that movie.

You know what I don't get about T3?

In T2, they recovered an arm and a chip from the T-800's head in T1 to continue on T2, which made perfect sense.

Why didn't they just prolong the date when the nuclear war occured, due to no longer having the chip in the T-800?

Think about it..... they still had an arm stuck in the gears at the end of T2 from when the T-1000 jammed it in there during the fight.

Although crushed and damaged, why didn't they recover that arm and continued their production and development?

That way the T3 we know now could have actually been connected to the other two movies and the ending in T3 would have made much more sense.
