| Igneous Magma Posts: 354 | Kid Nation What a great idea, send a bunch of kids to a ghost town and let them start a new one....on their own too bad the adults ruined it: the kids were divded into classes, upper class, lower class. Let the kids do that on their own, why force one of our system's greatest flaws on them. At the end of each episode they get a solid gold star worth 20 thousand dollars, these kids are as young as 8 wtf are they gonna do with all that money!! 20 bucks was a fortune back then, they're just putting greed into the system. They should have just left the kids alone (except camera crew and doctors of course) with enough enough food and basic supplies, and let the kids figure it out. they are all there for a purpose, wether they work together or not, they will work towards they same goal. if they do unite, well that question would have been what its all about. either way the adults didn't stimulate their teamwork, on the actual show, the kids worked together on their own. Personally I would have loved to go on that show, if i was young enough , It would have a sense of adventure unlike any we experience nowadays in our "civilized" world. This was such a good idea, but was tarnished (probably by demands of the producers and the network) |

| Igneous Magma Posts: 354 | They turned it into entertainment so people would watch it. i think the people who created this actually had this in mind as an experiment, a good one, and none of the kids were hurt that bad, (the worst injury i believe was a girl got burnt while cooking, pretty badly, but thats not the most dangerous of situations either, and was a complete accident. The kids volunteered and any of them could go home at any time they want. The fact that none of them were ever eliminated but could leave whenever was a great touch that showed the difference between this and other shows. Although the "competitions" they play to determine what class their in every week are stupid and embarassing, the whole class concept should not have been introduced, and the only thing keeping them from leaving (other then peer pressure) were the 20 thousand dollar stars, which should have been left out as well |

Many of them didn't seem to enjoy this. Rather, they seemed confused as to why they were doing this instead of just being kids. |

| Igneous Magma Posts: 354 | i don't partically like the show, but the idea is great, those games are stupid, but just cause their not smiling don't mean their not having fun, their on an adventure, they're playing town. yes there will be drama, its like 40 kids, some wont get along, and the producers or somebody messed it up, but they are having fun, noone is forcing them or their parents. i would jump at this as a kid, and if my kids wanted this, really wanted this, I would let them. Its very different from other reality shows (all of which are basicly the same) and in everyone, the people are fake, they hand pick some people that will cause stupid drama, and they always eliminate people, so people will fight. Noone gets eliminated in this show, and it tries to make them work together, the stupid games, and class system kind of undemine this, but all the teams have to finish a task or noone gets an extra "reward" Its very different from any other reality show, but then again at the same time very similar, which messed the show up |

![]() Mass'Debator Posts: 4,730 | I heard of the show, but never bothered to watch it, because I already knew there would be adult influence, therefore whatever occured in the show wouldn't be accurate to reality in the first place. Just like how Survivor is a joke. I've seen some other shows which put that show to shame, like Survivorman. Sure he screws up once in a while, but considdering he's all on his own having to get out of nature on his own while carrying and filming with the cameras, it's still quite a feat. |

![]() Mass'Debator Posts: 4,730 | See if it was something along the lines of Muppet Babies, where there was very little influence in the Muppet Baby community, where Nanny only appeared once in a while to see how things were going, then that would be more interesting to see. ![]() |

All of the supposed "missions" that were put forth for the children to accomplish in the challenges were gleaned from the notes of the original settlers hardships. Ruined the whole show for me. Well, that, and the Probst ( Survivor ) like intervention of the host, and the way they always attempt steer the conversations. |
