| pregnant with truth Posts: 2,419 | And still in the forementioned budget, already converted with greasecar. Finally getting a good look at her today for good while. Repainted and removed stuff to be repainted black. Painted the flares but ran one a little. I put em back on the car anyway. Cleaned up the shiftlinkage enough to put the new one on, found it in the car. I need more patience with the painting. I have to get the braking up to modern standards and it needs shocks when that time comes I'll get the cheepest heavy duty I can find. But I'm dreaming ahead of my wallet. For now I can get the rquired mechanical maintenance done. Brakes shift linkage. Both work actually but we're going to drive this. A simple resto-mod with a free fuel source. This is the new mustang to me. The car is way more practical and mature even if I'm not. Though I will be able to power along back roads nicely, this car is out of it's league on the highway power-wise. We're talking a full mile to get up to 75 where you'll be able to maintain so long as there's no headwind or hill. It's beautiful man. Ha! I'm looking forward to a rally-capable coil over suspension. Check it. touring class bilsteins are 200 +shipping and a top quality ground control coilover kit is 399. The bilsteins just slide right in. They come with eibach springs and adjustable ride heights. can take a major effin beating too. I'm talking rally-capable. I've no real interest in lowering the car. Maybe a smidge it'll still have over an inch more supension travel than before. Can't use big tires on cars with very little power. 14x7 race rims can be made custom offsets for waay les than..any other rim. period. I'll move the stance a little and put some aggresive all season tires. Power slot rotors on front get the drums machined and decent new pads and shoes. ...that is the extent of my vision. Hopefully trading a honda parts car for fresh paint and a little bodywork. For now I have hours of work to do. Accidentally pumped a couple more gallon into the veg tank before I realized what I was doing. Three way switch, ya see? No harm just have to wait longer to find out how it does with straight grease. . I enjoy writing about this project. I'll keep progress here if that's okay |

Fixed the braking issue with I started out thinking was going to be a straightforward job on the booster pump. Just taking bolts out putting in new seal then putting it back together. It took me 3 minutes to put in the first diaphram and 2.5 hours to do the other. but... the brakes are functional if not very impressive. I believe they are biased improperly from left to right probably from irregular wear caused by the cracked booster diaphram. Some new pads are needed at the very least. The linkage is fixed. I checked how the shifter felt after every new link or bushing I replaced one at a time. After targeting the most worn areas with new parts I found that the shifting feel was brand new and put the last 4 bushings away for another day. ![]() click for larger image. Haven't washed it yet. The mirrors are off for repair/paint. Got the polish today we'll see how she looks then. Let it warm up today before I left. The battery had been charged but just couldn't manage enough crank. So the 50amp booster went on. THings rattle on a 25 year old diesel. Like the pedals. I've noticed this in other old cars as well. Anybody wanna guess a solution for rattled pedals? There's oil running down the engine but not too fast(as if that matters ) But it won't be getting too many miles for now. | |

| pregnant with truth Posts: 2,419 | diesel is getting a head job. While that's getting taken care of, I'm attempting to push the complete wiring harness through the firewall of late 90's honda before I drop the engine. feck that. I think 3 more hours of work will see the whole mess sitting where it should on the floor against the wall. |
