They employ the same tactics. They claim to come to you intending to "spread truth" when it is really all just a bunch of lies and propaganda, and it is "unsolicited" spreading of that lie and propaganda that is the point of the thread.

(if your going to spread information, at least you should know what your spreading, right?!)

Honestly I don't care who celebrates what. Holidays are what they are. Dates on a calender.

What are some of these lies that the Jehovah’s Witnesses are spreading?

Do you also believe that all Christians are guilty of spreading lies?

No, I'm saying that asking that question to a lot of people on this board won't get you the answer you want.

I am. They clearly are.

A lie is an untruth. And they speak untruths.

Oh, you Christians are always so ready to judge others.
Here's another way to look at that question; I certainly don't believe that any Christian, Mormon, JW or any other type, accepts reality. In that sense you could say that I believe what they say are lies. But are they intentionally lying like a kid who has taken a cookie and says he didn't? No. They believe what they say is the truth, so from their perspective they are speaking the truth. In that context they are not lying. Yet they fail to appreciate that their context is not a universal context. So they are speaking the truth within their context, their belief system. But to me, outside that system and context, their statements are not accurate or "truthful".

I respect what you are saying. Maybe the following is not a bad question. Do have any more comments about what see in that Mormons videos?

Whaddaya want? I think the bike guys came in way too cocky and left with their tails between their legs. I question the method of assailing random strangers in public places with arrogance, leaflets, and a cue card as a viable and productive method of evangelism. I wonder why there was a camera there. I don't care for the style of debate of any of the participants.

I usually question any internet video I view as to whether or not its a set-up. In this case I heard it was a cell phone video and the black guys were just messin around when these Morons solicitors rolled up. It seemed genuine to me.

I thought the black guy was excellent in his response. I like when he accused them of worshiping Joseph Smith, not Jesus. Because that seems to be the case with Joseph Smith, a false prophet.

Their methods depend on finding people that are "lost", unintelligent or simply disenfranchised. I believe they saw a black guy standing in a Burger King parking lot and thought he may be a good mark for their spiel.

Unknown to them, he was articulate, intelligent and every bit as devout to his subscribed believe as they were. Probably more so. I am sure he was somewhat offended by people approaching him and questioning his faith. Its insulting and presumptuous.

The entire "word" and history they put forth.

I believe ALL religious people who make a practice of attempting to recruit, win-over or otherwise convince people of their subjective fiction are lying, yes.

Religion is a tool of controlling people, that is all.

I have no problem with people practicing their belief system as individuals, but they have some gall to walk around spreading lies and trying to win more sheep for their sheperd only to appease their own selfish goals. (getting to their subjective heaven in some mystical afterlife, or whatever)

Ah, the wonders of technology. I didn't think of that. My phone's like bare essentials only.

It is a good point. I think the Muslims are worse in that regard than the Mormons. At least you can draw a picture of Joseph Smith. But I just meant that the shouting and interrupting kinda gets on my nerves. I didn't have a problem with the content.

I agree that what they did was insulting and presumptuous. I would also be insulted if my perceived race/weight/attractiveness/gender were a factor that made me a mark. As if these things were an indicator of level of intelligence or gullibility.

My impression of the video is that I strongly suspect it was staged.

1. I have never encountered Mormon missionaries who pushed the Book of Mormon before they had a person fully engaged and cooperating in a conversation.

2. The black man was addressing the camera as much as he was addressing the two 'missionaries' while the two 'missionaries' never glanced at it and were seemingly oblivious to its presence. Also, what is the odds that a camera will be running on the street or in a parking lot and be in perfect position to record a 'chance encounter'?

3. Mormon missionaries are generally young, at most early 20s, and may not be stellar Bible scholars, but they don't go out with so little information that they are caught flat footed as these two appear to be and they are trained to steer the conversation into an easy-to-discuss area. They didn't even attempt to do that.
