| Volcanic Erupter Posts: 8,663 | President of the world. Let's pretend you woke up and found out that democracy was going global and you would need to pick the first President of the world. Who would you like to see as a canidate for that rather important job? |

Nothing good can come of one man rule. -The world is vast, different in time zones, and diverse in ethnicity and religion. No one ruler would ever keep a peace or even a stable and functional government. What do you say to an atheist who sneezes? Yourdeadthatsit! - Dane Cook |

Most of the names were people who are somewhat famous for promoting peace. I would acturally nominate Yoko Ono as she is for peace and is wise, and a very universal kind of person. Give Peace A Chance. | |

![]() Mass'Debator Posts: 4,724 | Well besides myself as an obvious canidate for the position, being so understanding as I am A few select I would have to flip a coin over:From the United States: ![]() Stephen Colbert ~ One of the smartest, wittiest guys I've seen down there in a long time. From Canada: ![]() Rick Mercer ~ Canadian Version of Stephen Colbert, but has been doing it for longer, and seems to be able to make anybody believe anything, no matter how stupid it may be. (See Rick Mercer: Talking to Americans..... quite a laugh ~ Easily found on YouTube) I figure if you get someone in there who actually is informed on what the governments and such around the world are doing, and yet can still make jokes about it like these two can, they have to be a shoe in. I figure all the serious wind bags in power now sure arn't doing a good job, so throw in a comedian... it's not like they could do worse. Sample of Stephen (Interviewed by Bill O'Reilly): YouTube - Bill O'Reilly Interviews Stephen Colbert on The Factor Sample of Rick Mercer (With Prime Minister Stephen Harper): YouTube - Rick Mercer visits 24 Sussex Two good laughs to watch... vote for both as leaders of the world! And just remember.... in the Mercer one.... that is actually our Prime Minister, lol. |

Seriously, though, a significant protion of Christian evangelicals believe there is actually going to be a one-world government headed by a very popular, charismatic leader. The original poster's speculation may not be too far off. "America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to freedom and independence of all. Somebody with the experience to manage a planet full of very different people. Somebody with a good heart and an inviting purr. I vote for the best being in the universe, the pinnacle of all that is good. I vote for my cat, Lexi. Now accepting campaign donations in all amounts! Destroying America one Volconvo post at a time. Religious controversies are always productive of more acrimony and irreconcilable hatreds than those which spring from any other cause. |

![]() Mass'Debator Posts: 4,724 | At this stage in humanity, yes..... but it can work in the future, once something drastic enough causes us as a species to unite for our survival. And the governments we know now are clearly not perfect, let alone qualified to run the entire world... which is why I am always trying to promote the next generation of government. I understand your wish for freedom of peoples in the world, and I agree with most of what you desire for freedom, but a level of organization, a level of connection to us all as one family on this planet is still required. We are far from this, but it's not impossible. I imagine with your own exposure to your government you have a distain for governments, but not all are out for themselves in the world, and yes.... Canada's government isn't perfect either.... but there are key potiential things I see in our government which could benifit many in this world.... much as there are some things in your government which can be benificial...... some. All in all, I'm not feeling oppressed by my government, they haven't been able to do anything beyond the overall disagreement of the populace of our contry. Many seem to have this image that Canada is some socialist country, but it's been admitted that our country has some socialist traits, but it's overall a highly democratic system, which doesn't turn a blind eye to other governmental options outside of democracy. If a socialist method can help stengthen other democractic methods, then i'm all for it. The moment it seems oppressive or goes against our own constitution, it won't stay. There are just too many voices, too many parties in play in our polotics for just one party to have their way all the time. |
