Posts: 827 | Ok, it's the third time I have to face the "eye evolution" story and it's the third time I or Ish or other people disproved the urban legend claiming that modern scientists don't know about it. THERE!!!!!:Evolution of the eye - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia For the last time I hope Do researchs of your own if you want to go further, but it gives a good overview. I think, I'm free. |

In other term, argument from ignorance, working only for people who don't have enough scientific knowledge. it's very easy indeed: you ask questions ("how did the human eye evolve...") then find something which seems incredible ("from nothing to such a complex organ...") and fill the lacks of knowledge with some "God did it". I didn't think this guy was super remarkable, but the eye thing did make me wonder. "My one regret in life is that I'm not somebody else." - Woody Allen

| Molten Ash Posts: 149 | you go to heaven when you believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to get there. and that he is the son of God and he died for your sins. a prayer is a way of stating that you believe, but that idea didn't come around till more recently. before then, people just believed and then were baptized. you don't have to pray the prayer to be saved, but the moment you believe, God knows it and you are saved. not trying to contradict you, XFRODOBAGGINSX, but that's just what i believe. please, if i am incorrect about this and the Bible states otherwise, then i'll definitely go with that it says, but i haven't found anything that says you must pray the prayer. i thought that the prayer was the only way to go until recently when a jewish friend made me realize otherwise. שמות 14:14 יְהוָ֖ה יִלָּחֵ֣ם לָכֶ֑ם וְאַתֶּ֖ם תַּחֲרִישֽׁוּן׃ |

| NerdyHippieThing 3.1 Location: Who cares? Posts: 827 | I agree with you Porfyra. In 2000 years of christianism, many rituals were invented, modified or forgotten without asking the Bible, especially in the Middle Age. Remember that the mass were sung in Latin, and only the priest and the Lord could understand, leaving a lot of liberty to modify the way we worship God. That's why I thinks clericalism is a fake shadow of the original christianism. It's the same for almost every other religions. I think, I'm free. |

However, I have my reservations regarding some data within the Bible. Besides, I think that many people take the Bible very literaly. What do you mean - by stating - that "Bible is true" ?

It's the same as those Yeti footprints. Without first establishing that yetis exist, it's nonsensical to ask if I believe those are its footprints. First, prove there's such a thing as a god or yeti, then we'll examine the book and those footprints. If you can't establish the validity of their existence, then I have every reason to doubt the validity of that book and those prints. That's how skepticism works. -Second: If we consider there is a God, why do you consider Bible to be a more reliable source about God's will than Qu'ran or the Mormon Book? -Third: please show me why the Bible is true, and don't forget to tell us what you meran by "true". Try not to cite a Bible passage as a source please. Have a nice day, and use your critical thinking. I think, I'm free.
