![]() Devil's Advocate Location: Alberta Posts: 136 | the longest word is anti-feminist We all know the longest word, supercalifragillsriceexpialidoccious, popularized through Mary Poppins, but when you look at all the prefixes and the root it isn't quite a fun word any more. It mean roughly 'Atoning for educatability through delicate beauty'. In other words being beautiful to make up for having an education. People just assume that this is just a made up word what it means is deeper than that. Two quote the song. Quote:

We just considered it part of the song. - Rob "I'd rather be free and alive!" -- Ron Paul Religion isn't the greatest threat to mankind -- authoritarianism is. The Anarcheion Zeitgeist |

| Sedimentary Rock Posts: 1 | The Sherman Brothers (who wrote the song) made that word up to mean something extra specially wonderful. Someone obviously invented the 'atoning for educability' meaning after the film was released. If you break the word down it does indeed look as if it could mean that, but it's an intellectual joke. That meaning is absolutely not intended in the film and Mary Poppins does not atone for anything. :) |
