![]() Made of pure win. Posts: 3,795 | For all my fans Getting a little tired of this: For a handful of you, I can say "up" and be absolutely sure I'll hear "down" (or "up cannot be proven / up is unknown"). On the philosophy forum, this has gotten silly... where ZNF has actually dedicated an entire thread to attempting to save face for a contradiction of his I've pointed out. Have you guys seen this thread? Z has invented his own lexicon of armchair terminology. It's ridiculous and it's all because he can't bear to agree with me. Why do you guys insist on reading a tone into everything I say? Please post a link to any thread in which I called someone one of the following:

It's time for volconvo(Zharvic) to take a deep breath, loosen up and stop reading tones into everything (I post) (posted). Brien the Iceberg If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything. M.T. Last edited by brien; Jun 13, 2007 at 01:56 pm.

But if he doesn't care somewhat, why would he post his concern in the first instance? Why bother? It must mean something to him when participates here. | Volcanic Erupter Posts: 4,375 | Autolykos I would be the first one to agree that the opinion of the majority doesn't mean it's correct. But... What if one person tells you that you have a habit in your posting style that is detrimental to conducive discussion, and you disagree with their opinion? Do you assess your posting style for possible changes? That depends on your goal here. But you probably won't, because it's just one. What if five more people say the same thing? Then what if you receive multiple suspensions, infractions, and warnings for those aspects of your style? And what if that isn't just here, but in multiple forums across the Internet? What if your name is synonymous with a certain posting style on multiple forums? Do you assess your posting style for possible changes? It depends on your goal. What you should probably ask yourself is: After a year of multiple suspensions, infractions, and warnings, am I still accomplishing my goal? If your goal is to learn, share information, convincing people you are right, whatever it might be, and you find yourself answering "no," then would you change your behavior? If your goal is to say whatever you want, regardless of how it's perceived, and you are getting those suspensions, infractions, and warnings, then do you belong on a forum? |

Was the Fart Button your doing? or does the site pick the little links under your thread? I found humor in that, maybe you were just making a funny? ![]() Starware Jokes Toolbar That you may retain your self-respect, it is better to displease the people by doing what you know is right, than to temporarily please them by doing what you know is wrong. | Moral Turnip Location: Oregon, US Posts: 2,283 | I think, when I have the chance, I should give you a lesson on the difference between tone and explicit statements. You don't throw out explicit insults, Zhav. But your tone is most assuredly, shall we say, abrasive. Reading insults into your posts, considering that tone, is not really a stretch. If you don't like the response you're getting, then change your tone. "Would you like some pie, Dr. Stark?" "Science is my pie. Curiosity, my sweet tooth. Knowledge is my candy." |

The links in my sig are there to help people remember what's already been proven. They're not there for "ego". They're there because volconvo members have short memories and a tendency to argue things which have already been proven.
