A police officer A doctor A nurse A farmer A mechanic
A pregnant teenager A housewife A businessman A priest
A captain of an ocean liner A soldier A teacher A university student
A child A librarian A cook A veterinarian A engineer
A scientist A bioligist
A doctor, because eventually someone's going to get sick and we need someone who at least has some basic medical knowledge.
A engineer, because at some point in time somethings going to need repairing, and will probably know how to maneuver the ship and work it.
A pregnant teenager, because that is the only person whom for sure is a woman, and capable of becoming pregnant, which would be necessary for procreation and would be needed to reestablish civilization.
A farmer, because we will all need food.
A cook, because we'll need someone to prepare the food the farmer grows.

I'll let you be the judge

That you may retain your self-respect, it is better to displease the people by doing what you know is right, than to temporarily please them by doing what you know is wrong.

Don't think i would be a very good judge, no one taught me anything about mental health, and I have not had that much experience with it anyway.

[quote][Well after a bit of discussion I managed to come up with a rather controversial answer that took a bit to convince the others but in the end I did manage to convince them. When the different groups got together I again had to try and convince the others and although there was a bit of head scratching and disbelief I managed more or less to get most of them to agree.

Well, maybe if not a judge, you would make a good jury foreman?
Can I ask what was the nature of this workshop?

Interesting...

I did the (S.T.E.P) Systematic Training for Effective Parenting classes. Have you heard of those? Basically it's natural consequences Vs nagging. You learn a lot about your parenting style. My middle son is alive today because of them. :)

My parents used to do something like that...

They'd just slap a Post-It on my bedroom door that said "No mow lawn, No borrow car" or something like that.

Funny, I kinda figured a shuttle pilot would have been a given
No where in this clever little prose is it even mentioned. It was my assumption one can't assume anything here. Otehrwise we could assume everyone could magically go to this mythical planet. The idea seems to presuppose the people will either fly themselves, or be automatically transported to this new planet, or perhaps they would be beamed up like Scotty in Star Trek.

I think to the embarrassment of the people who thought this up, they are so smart they built the proverbial boat and now can't get it out of the building. It seems to me that this is typical of pointy headed smart ass people who think they are so clever but neglect to see the obvious right in front of their own eyes. LMAO

.

I use to take my kids to a pre school playcentre that was run by parents so I got to talk to a few different people about parenting and did a few workshops on it, good stuff it helps.
But now my kids are teenagers and it is a whole new ballgame.

Right, no pilot. I figured that's why the ocean liner captain was on the list. Of course such a person would have some piloting/navigating skills

Easy enough.

Me
The pregnant teenager - young, proven fertile.
The doctor to look after the health of the others
The engineer to repair the ship and take care of any mechanical issues
A teacher to help teach the young ones
