The Volconvo Awards Ceremony

Last year I put up the topic for Volconvo's 2006 MVP so now, being 2007 I've decided to host the MVP again with a few new things.

This year the MVP will be accompanied with a few more awards for those happy members that keep volconvo going so here are some new awards and the criterion for voting....

MVP of 2007- reflects the great contributions the poster has made to Volconvo and the influencial thoughts he or she has given us. Top 4 this year instead of 5 will be in the poll later.

Rookie of the Year- intended for the best new poster on Volconvo who has made a great impact with his or her recent joining. Must have at least 100 posts to be nominated and a cap of 500 posts so far.

Old-Timer Award- For those who have been with Volconvo from its huble beginnings. Recipients must have been a member since January 2005 or earlier.

and last but not least....

Mod of the Year- for the Mod with the best impact this year. Must be a moderator.

Please cast you nominations with a reply below and nominate your candidates in the order listed above. Nominations will be tallied and later we can start taking polls for the top 4 in each category.

Let the ceremony begin!

Um.. your requirements exclude the majority of members here.

I for one can't be nominated (not that I would be nominated ) but there's a ton of people with 500+ posts that haven't been here for years and years. Like.. most active members don't fall in either requirements.

May they be changed? It's up to you, just askin'

Powerful.. magical.. e-e-e-eevil..

I think you should give it a time limit, not a post limit. By definition, the more influential posters will have more posts

Consider mine an absentee ballot.

See above.

This sounds like a good idea. I'll revise my award criterion now:

MVP 07': The best of the best, no requirements needed except to be a member.

Rookie: Must have joined Volconvo by May 20th 2006. Since this is rookie of the year, I'll make it exactly a year's time for the qualification. Sound better?

Old Timer: I still think this should be the same, from the beginning of 2005 or ealier. I'm primarily thinking Ish, Patrick, Athena, Scribbler, ect for this award. (Not that they are old or anything but....)

Modz: Same rules apply

I think for those who aren't old, aren't new, or aren't the best we can work out another few awards. Simply submit a possible award that you would like to see and we can try to get it working.

Thanks to everyone for your help.

Is this poll just for the religious and philosophy section or for all sections of the forums?

Some people add a lot to the scientific and techonology section but might not get thumbs up in this section... some only post in one forum.
News and poltical people might not add much to some of the other fourms, etc.

So do you want the best "all-around posters" or will each forum have it's own award. Like in the movie Oscar show they have "best actor" and "best music" and a award for each - and "best movie" as the main "over-all" award.

I am making this nomination based on the persons in-put and not saying if I find the person my most popular choice for personal reasons.

For the "Mod man of the year" I dominate Isherwood.

I dominate Kuldeep for best New Poster ((800 plus postings).

Best all around poster with new ideas to in-put I will 2nd the nomination for Athena. (Grannie award... hee hee). (Old timer award?).

However if limited to one section like "science" or "breaking news" then other choices might be mandated.

Okay so far we have a few votes but we need more.

Voting here is like voting in the U.S. we can be better than that.

For "Most Likely To Get Poked In The Nose." Fonceai was banned, and not a second too soon, IMO.

I'll nominate Fushigi for MVP.
ZNFYRH for noob -- I mean, Rookie of the Year.
Bishop and Isherwood for old-timer and mod awards. Both for both.

ZN, it is no longer a post cap, rather a time cap. You are still counted.
