Couple of months ago, I visited my sister and for the first time became aware of gliding chairs. They are like rockers, as we use for rocking babies or exercise when we get old, but the chair glides back and further instead of rocks. After sitting in her chair, I decided I wanted one. I didn't connect having such a chair with rocking my first great grandson, until today.

Not even when I saw the chair in front the apartment dumpster, for anyone to take, did I think much about it. Like surely it had to be broken if someone threw it out, right? Surely, if it were any good, someone else would take it, right? I left the chair there until Sunday, and finally couldn't resist checking it out. I could see nothing wrong with it, and used a wagon to pull it into my apartment. I works divinely and I am so pleased with it.

When I told my sister of it, she mentioned it must be my Mother's Day gift from the universe. What an overwhelming acknowledgement of my life! The first 50 years of my life were devoted to being a good daughter, good wife, and good mother, and about all I got for my self sacrificing and devotion was a lot of pain and grief. Things were so bad, I felt trapped in hell for many years. At age fifty, I started working on a life free from my position in the family, and have noticed improvements. Recently the improvements are so great it is like the past has no importance, except now I have the relationships with a son and his wife, a daughter, and grandchildren. and a sister, that I always wanted. And then there is this chair. It came from I don't know where and waited for me to bring it home. I will be sitting in that chair, when my oldest granddaughter, puts her baby in my arms for me to hold and rock.

I really feel like the universe has acknowledged me and reassured me that my values are good ones. The universe said, "good job, Mom", on Mother's Day.
