Smokers... do you roll/stuff your own?

I just recently started stuffing my own cigarettes. Mainly because I like the extra ability of screwing the tax collector out of more money, but also because after trying a friends, the quality was superior to any purchased cigarette I have tried.

Do any of the smokers out there roll or stuff your own cigarettes?

I am currently using the Vera Cruz Nocturne "tube" in king size, with filter, and a blend of McClintock Light and Roland Light. Fantastic, bold taste, with a rich chocholate taste and smell, and NO chemical or bleached paper taste as with bleached papered cigarettes.

Anyone else?

I have to roll my own: the only thing I smoke isn't something you buy in shops.

Nothing against that, nothing wrong with that.

I WOULD roll my own if tobacco came mentholated and the other shit in it was reduced. The biggest problem I see with todays cigarettes is the crap added to them, such as wood chips and other garbage, as well as the extra nicoteine.

Not a day goes by that I don't see something that reinforces my belief that people are idiots.

That's why I stick with American Spirit; No additives, no stems, all pure killer tobacco. Anything else I smoke I roll.

I'm not old enough to buy cigarettes but I have rolled up various substances..

I love the feeling.. rolling something up.. it's the same feeling I get when I pick up a block of wood and start chipping away. (haven't done either in a long long time)

Powerful.. magical.. e-e-e-eevil..

I'm too lazy to roll my own cigarettes. But, I know several people who do, mostly for cost effectiveness though. Also, my fiance is so against smoking that even the sight of cigarettes or anything tobacco related (even lighters) that I have to hide my smokes and what not from his sight. I think if I had an area where I was constantly rolling them would case way too many issues.

I have tried rolling my own (cigarettes that is ) and I have found that not only do I prefer the taste of brand cigarettes, I am horrible at rolling!
As for the other... wouldn't a glass piece make more sense?? I mean, not validating it or anything, but I always thought it would taste better that way!

Natural American Spirits gave me insight into why people add additives in the first place.

Well, I would say this.

Like coffee, most "good" cigarettes are blends. The secret is to experiment with different blends.

i don't normally roll my own, but i have in the past. they definitely do taste better than the manufactured ones, and save a lot of money. you just have to be willing to put in the time.

one thing i don't like about the roll-your-owns is that they don't have filters.. it'd be nice if they did.

hope for america...

If you don't have much experience with the "war" on this issue, you probably wouldn't figure it, but the glass piece doesn't make as much sense because it can't be easily gotten rid of. Camouflage is a very useful tool to any good warrior, and this war is no different. Sure, you can TRY to tell the officer/agent that glass piece is a vase with a special watering stem for adding Miracle Grow, or it's an artsy drinking glass with a special place to put a straw, but I doubt they would believe you. A little piece of paper can be inhaled or swallowed quickly if necessary. Not so with glass.

I would agree that "most", though not all tobaccos come with some trash in them, twigs, stalk, etc. I don't really mind picking it out as I go. I haven't noticed much about the extra nicoteine. I have noticed that I smoke less rolling my own, but haven't determined for sure why yet.

Have you tried McClintock Methol, or Stokers Iceburg?

Ever hear of these companies?

America's Supplier Of Roll Your Own Tobacco, Cigarette Machines, Tubes and Accessories
D&R Tobacco, Bulk Tobacco and RYO MYO Cigarette Tobacco

I go through both of them, since neither sells BOTH kinds of tobacco I like. They offer all natural, chemical and additive free tobacco, papers and other stuff.

I had a friend who tried for the first time to grow tobacco last year, but he didn't have luck. This year he is going to try again, with some new techniques he has studied.

I do mine this way mainly for cost effectiveness also, but it is all coming out of the taxmans pocket, not the growers. Name brand cigarettes here in Ohio are going for $4.50 a pack on average, and generic are about $3.25 or so a pack. Rolling my own I get better quality, less chemicals, no bleach, better taste and for only about $.74 cents a pack.

It takes me about 5 minutes to weigh and mix my tobacco, and about 30 to 35 minutes a day to roll 2 1/2 packs, which is roughly what I smoke per day. There is a little space involved, and a little intitial expense, but overall I am much more satisfied smoking, enjoy it more and do it less, and save money too. Its like a win, win, win, win situation for me.

Have you tied cigarette tubes and stuffer machines? They are basically a production cigarette, with no tobacco. The machine, once you load it, actually carries the tobacco into the tube, and then retracts back in to the machine. No rolling, and you get production quality filters, and papers, or better.

Check this out, this is what we use now and it works great.

Premier Supermatic stuffing machine:
Premier Supermatic

We bought it here:
Cigarette Tubes, World's Best Selection

Ours is of good quality, is very consistent if you keep your loading consistent, and has been very trouble free. It completely fills the tube to the filter, and provides a nicely packed cigarette, though I usually "tap" mine on the machine a few times each as I roll them, to pack them tighter.

Check these out:
Vera Cruz Nocturne Tubes

Non-bleached paper, and very good quality in my opinion. They don't make "light" filters yet, which I prefer, but until then I just poke a single hole at the tobacco side of each filter and it lessens the smoke content by about 50% I would say per hit.

Cigarettes - online cigarettes. $12.40 for Marlboro cigarettes. Cheap cigarettes. Camel cigarettes.

that's for all of you who don't want to roll your cigarettes and also not pay $5/pack. they're made in moldova and marlboro lights cost about $18/carton including shipping. they may not taste the same as american-manufactured cigs but they do the job for me. i've been ordering my smokes from here for years.

abub, be prepared for a notice from the IRS if they find out about your purchases. Don't say you weren't warned.

Such a good deal!

I'm going to have to take up smoking just to take advantage of it!!

I'd be stupid not to do this!

Never heard of them. I might try one if I ever see them but I think I'll be quitting soon anyway.

Like I said, I've smoked for nearly 40 years now, and I think that qualifies me as a member in good wheezing of the smoker's guild. I'm on the inside, so to speak. Yet I admit I've never come across this terminology. Am I far more out of it than I previously suspected or is this a fairly new term/local colloquialism/inside joke/other?

It's amazing what the human body will tolerate as the result of seeing a lit police lightbar in one's rear-view mirror.
