I was referring to Jesus. I don't hold the view that He is exactly the same as the Father, but I could not resist.
Ummm. Ok. Which reminds me.

Possible Spoiler

Jesus will be one of the battles Matthias will have to endure.

End of Possible Spoiler

This is beginning to sound a bit Kingdom Hearts...fight Yuffie and then you get to fight Cloud...and maybe eventually you get the big (optional) boss: Sephiroth. Not that I would ever directly compare him to Christ.

Also...I think that notion is somewhat strange. It's like having a fighting game where one of the bosses is Gandhi.

Well, you may see him as Ghandi, but (if I were to believe in a God) I see him as a deceitful hypocrite, set on filling others with his hatred (homosexuality, atheists, etc.).

Never even played that game. But ok. That may or may not happen in the book (though the book will probably not happen, either). There is everything already out there, so it seems impossible to think of something new. You can compare any piece of literature to another nowadays.

Meh. To be honest, when I was making the first comparison at the beginning of the thread, I couldn't help thinking of that South Park episode where Butters is repeatedly confounded in his evil schemes by the realization that everything that he tries to do has already been done by the Simpsons.

But at any rate, I don't see how your accusations against Jesus (as the person I was talking about) are valid. I can see a little more how you might have come to think those things about God, but I still don't think it's valid.

Of course you don't, because it's your religion. Just like Buddhists don't think that Buddha did anything wrong.

Erm...I'm not aware of Buddha doing anything bad myself...did I miss something?

Nah. Just using an example. Many children don't think their parents did anything wrong. Better analogy?

I was always pretty aware of the failings of my parents.

Heh. I may end up going through with this. I have written the prologue, chapter 1, and part of chanpter 2. Would anyone care to read what I have?

Update: I have made many changes to how the story will go. Jesus will not be involved, what a silly idea that was. The reason Matthias feels so strongly about his opinions is partly because of the beating he takes, partly from Lucifer's instilled powers, and partly because it makes sense.

Spoiler Warning

Matthias will ultimately win the war (what is that war called again?) and claim his throne, only to encounter Lucifer again, who kills him, taking God's throne.

End of Spoiler

Hardened warriors usually don't make great philosophers.
I personally know some accomplished martial artists who follow various aspects of Bushido, Zen, and Buddhism who are examples against your statement.

saltinespike

Sounds interesting.

I do a lot of writing as well, but have yet to seek a publisher for amateur authors.

There's a difference. How many people have your friends killed? And if they have, does it bother them?

Hardened warriors are killing machines that have seen some of the worst hells of human darkness that exist. They have been through so many situations where they were sure they were going to die that it's really messed with their heads.

Which is why it fits so well. Plus, I said he considers himself a philosopher. And that's only for like the first chapter or two. When he returns, he's not gonna be like "let's think about life" he's gonna be a killing machine for anyone who gets in his way.
