as far as people being forced to accept religion is concerned...

and, one could argue that under the counter-reformation, protestants were forced to return to catholicism.. and, during europes imperialist days (north/south america, africa and asia), groups like the conquistadores (sp?) forced conversion and slaughtered those who refused.

Thanks. The latter was what I was looking for. That's where the quote came from (as recognized in "Glencoe: World History").
