Feinstein quits committee under war profiteer cloud

Quote:
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., has abruptly walked away from her responsibilities with the Senate Military Construction Appropriations Subcommittee after a report linked her votes to the financial well-being of her husband's companies, which received billions of dollars worth of military construction contracts she approved.

As reported in Metroactive, an online report from the Silicon Valley, Feinstein's resignation followed six years of subcommittee work during which time her alleged conflict of interest stemmed from her husband Richard C. Blum's ownership of Perini Corp. and URS Corp.
WorldNetDaily: Feinstein quits committee under war-profiteer cloud
Fascinating.

Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route?

This response is being made at 17:00 EDT on March 29, 2007 and I am unable to find any other news service carrying this story. There's no mention of it on Feinstein's web site or in any other press save Metroactive, as far as I can tell.

Regards
S.

fascinating that no credible news sources have reported this story.

worldnetdaily is not, nor has ever been a credible news source.

The news here in California covers her activities pretty closely. There's been nothing reported about this that I've seen. That causes me to be suspicious about the credibility of this story.
In fact when I google the phrase "Feinstein quits committee" all I get a links to this exact same story on a few blogs, Craigslist and the World News site but nowhere else (like the San Diego Tribune, a Republican paper which would love to report this story if credible, especially after they were finally forced to report on the Duke Cunningham fiasco). It appears like this story was planted around the web for some purpose.

moving this to misc in light of the fact that no group of major news outlets have reported this story. i.e. this is not breaking news, but instead, an unsubstantiated rumor.

Yep, looks like it was BS.

I couldn't find anything thus I only commented "Fascinating" in hopes someone would have better luck then I.

It happens.

It does make me wonder what the intent was in peppering the web with this story. I suspect an agenda, but it didn't produce much of a result.

in the future, i would validate that the story is legitimate before spamming the forum with these erroneous stories. posting false stories doesn't benefit the site in any way, and merely serves to widen the rumor's reach.
