While we're adding things that are annoying, here are some specific ones in Beijing: - getting little pork bones in your dumplings - spitting/snot rocketing (everyone does this, even pretty young girls) - the little dirty sweaters people put on their Pekingeses - people who lean against you on the subway because they're tired - the fact that nothing has a price tag and you have to haggle for everything, even produce - unlicensed taxi drivers who drop you off before your destination because they don't want to get stuck in traffic - Uighur street vendors who always cut too large a piece off of the peanut brittle thing, then want to charge you more, then argue that "I can't put it back on now, it's already cut off" - people who sell maps on the bus and won't take "no" for an answer - beggars' unions - blind er'hu players' unions - strangers on the bus who read over your shoulder - sandstorms that cover your entire face in dust - chog - bicycle repairmen who slice your bike tire so that you have to replace it at their repair shop, then gouge you with exorbitant prices - old people who, when you haven't studied a word they're saying in Chinese, shout it at you repeatedly, as if this will help - fake Cultural Revolution-era posters dipped in urine to make them look authentic - unlicensed pot-belly pig and kitten salespeople hanging out at subway stations the list goes on...
