completly agree with u in everything chris the chees

this debetate brought to mind an analogy which to me sums up our attagonists position

there is himmler all dress neat cleann shave short hair just the pinical of correcness siting on seat in a train
there is gandhi all unkept sitting in a chair in the same carriage
in walks all out antagonists and they see unkept gandh and well groomed normative corerct himmler so of they go and sit with himmler because he is more presentable and correct wammy himmmler then puls a leaver and they are all of the auswitshe

where they could have got wisdom from unkept ghandi they got gas from well presented himmler

we where all told never judge a book by its cover every one agrees utill
it comes to how people look and how people write
every one still judges a book by its cover l
AND THEY JUST NEVER LEARN UNTILL A HIMMLER WELL NORMATIVE LOOKING DUDE RIPES THEM OFF

Since Ghandi spoke English and Himmler spoke German, I would sit with Ghandi BECAUSE I COULD EASILY UNDERSTAND WHAT HE WAS TRYING TO COMMUNICATE. It wouldn't matter in the least what the cover of the book looked like if it was written in a language I couldn't understand.

hey u all say u want take a person seriously if they write in bad grammer we all know you are talking bullsh..t
and i will give an example
if u lived in stalinist russia and stalin said he will send out a book writen in bad grammer to ever housin your street and in the book was the number of the houses he was going to knock on and if any one was home when he knocked he would shot them
i bet you would read that book avidly ploughing througfh the nbad grammer to see if your house was listed so u could make sure u where not home when stalin knocked by hell you would take him and his bad grammer very seruoisly;

the point is not many people take most books seriousl;y any way that is why the are obsessed with grammer
most books are drivel and rubbish so grammer becomes important
but we all know for the realy seruious books -like shapspears plays bad grammmer is not that important
we only take the rubbish books seriously with regard to grammer but books like stalins list which are very seruouis we dont care much for grammer

Let's say hypothetically, Stalin did write his little schedule using bad grammar. Now lets suppose the person reading for his life honestly couldn't decipher it with the hardest effort he could possibly muster.

Next thing you know, the person's house is knocked down with him completely unprepared-because of this, he starts a violent revolution and overthrows Stalin long before what would have otherwise been his prime. My point? Don't use bad grammar if you want people to start a violent revolution against you...er, I think.

It's obvious you are doing this for attention so I will stop giving you what you need. Perhaps when you grow up you will understand.

The funniest thing about this bizarre display is that thus far the content of pam699's ramblings has been completely worthless. Even if her spelling and grammar were perfect it wouldn't change the obvious vacuousness of her posts. The funniest thing is how she repeatedly invokes Einstein. It would be sad if it weren't funny.

By the way, my spelling sucks. Always has. I am grateful for Jason for adding the spell-checking feature to these boards. Helps a lot. Doesn't improve my proofreading, but what can you do?

so does bad grammar = low inteligence
Maybe bad grammar = low intelligence.

If it did, I don't think it would occur always, just sometimes.

As others have mentioned, I think bad grammar is mostly due to laziness.

I do not have signature.

Shakespeare used very proper grammar for his time. His contemporaries had no problem understanding his words. This is not true regarding your posts.

How do you know what we'd do? Such a book doesn't exist, so I don't see how you can make a prediction based on it.

You'd be better off asking how Jabberwocky became a classic poem despite its incomprehensibility. I suggest had not Lewis Carroll written it, it wouldn't have survived in popular literature.
Quote:
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy...
Jabberwocky

so it all depends on who is useing bad grammer -my very point
you all worship reputation and notablity if a writter has thes eu will read him regardless of his bad grammer
but u critices me for bad grammer and would not read any book i wrote -i rest my point grammer dont matter so long as it makes u money or a famous person uses it

What you should have noticed is that Jabberwocky follows the rules of grammar (for the 1870s) but uses made-up words instead of commonly understood words. It's both clever and innovative. I can't say the same for your posts. If a member posted constantly in Jabberwocky-style, there'd be complaints and we'd have to ask them to knock it off.

When the grammar is such that people don't understand, then great difficulties will arise. Apparently, millions of dollars are lost in corporations every year due to bad grammar, due to people misunderstanding what the message intended. As for Pam ... I get the drift of what you are saying, even though the grammar and spelling are poor ... it appears that you have little respect for the people with whom you are TRYING to communicate. Then, you are blaming the recipient of the message for not understanding you.
