two headed 16 year old

This is real. I'm watching a show on TLC and theres a show about these twin girls.. one body, two heads. Alive. Fully functional. They can play baseball, piano, swim, etc. They go to public school like everyone else. Some classes they each turn in their own paper. Some classes, like math, they do the same work. There are two hearts, two stomachs, and two sets of lungs. The stomach joins into the large and small intestines and then theres the female organs (only one).
Now despite the fact that this is unbelievable, it raises a question. Is this two people or one? They each have there own name so I assume they each have there own SSN which therefore would identify them as two different people by the government. People refer to them as "girls". But physically its one body. I dont really know where I stand. Should they each turn in their own work? Are they two people?

Just an interesting note. They can drive too. One brain takes control of the pedals, the other handles the turn signals, and they both steer. Its amazing. The brains work together simutaneously in strange ways. The one on the right controls the right arm and cannot feel the left. The one on the left controls the left arm and cant feel the right. But they can clap, each working a single arm together. COOL!!

God?

This is a proven biological condition. A single cell divides and if it divides completely they become twins. Twins separate in the womb, sometimes they don't. Are you going to marvel at Gods magnificence seeing downs syndrome, and mentally retarded people too?

It does raise some intriguing social, moral and legal issues. It's nearly impossible to enact laws and make social concessions for such a rare situation. I simply can't imagine what their lives (life?) must be like.

this being the misc forum rules are a little more relaxed here but it would be advisable to properly use the quote function - in the future. (just some advice)

I was originally just going to reply, but then isherwood did, so there was a gap, and I dont know how to add a quote in an edit.

Left-click, highlight and copy the text you want to quote...go to the reply box and click on the last little icon above it (looks like a text balloon). That will put the quote tags in the reply box for you, then just paste the text you copied in between the two quote tags.

There are icons on the lower right hand side of every post -click the quotation icon and it becomes red. You can do this for several posts from several people. Then, at the bottom left the red "reply" button -it takes you to an editable screen where the quotes are already in.

Some people are even self-contained twins. See this: Chimera (genetics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That raises the question of how law would deal with them. If one of the two people were to shoot someone, how could they be justly imprisoned?

This has NOTHING to do with this thread. I knew this was going to happen. This is a debate about the legal issues, not God.

But what about what Bacon Guy said? What if one were to kill someone? The one on the right has control over the right half and the same for the one on the left. They don't HAVE to make decisions together.

Yes. The link to youYube provided in that thread is a video of these same girls that I'm talking about. That thread ended after two posts anyway, and it didn't really answer many questions (at least, not from multiple perspectives, one person answered them all).
