Are black women undesirable?

I'm not a racist, I'm just an observer.

What I've observed is.. it seems you see a lot of interracial couples, but rarely a couple with a black woman and another race. Even in movies and tv, this is true.

Now, I know there are exceptions to ANYTHING, but in general, are black women undesirable? Any idea why black guys seem to frequent other races while other races don't frequent black women?

I suspect that my neighborhood has a higher number of inter-racial couples than most. Of the four inter-racial couples that I know who come immediately to mind, half have black males and white females while half have black females and white males.

Are black women undesirable? Some are, most are not. Some are totally hot. Just like white, brown and yellow women.

Having watched a Halle Berry movie this afternoon, the whole question seems downright strange.

I had a black girlfriend once. She was a dancer, as in exotic. Not real marriageable, but she was very hot.

I wouldn't discriminate based on race, but I certainly do like hot women and there are plenty of black hotties...

I tend to like Black women. Lately, even more than the Whites. ( I am very picky, but I have a type, and many Black girls fit that type. )


I find them to be more open minded, and less judgemental, and generally more inclined to treat you as an individual instead of just "a man".

It is an odd question, your right. But I'm pretty sure I wasn't just imagining this trend so I looked it up and found this.

And as for "Hitch," casting involved a great deal of controversy. A white woman, producers felt, would be too controversial, but a black woman would have rendered it automatically a "black movie" and therefore, hurt sales. In the end, Eva, a beautiful carmel-colored Latin beauty, it was determined, would be a safe choice as she would likely appeal to both whites and blacks.

Hitch with a white woman too controversial.. why would they think that?

Maybe White women are attracted to black men. Maybe Asian women don't find Asian men as attractive as White men. The stats you quoted are inconclusive.

I'd like to propose an answer for you.

As someone of "mixed" ethnicity I was often asked why I appeared, in high school, to have a preference for white girls. After careful thought (and quick thought, as it was a highly charged and aggressive question) I answered thus:

There are certain physical features that I find to be preferable and more attractive than others. I also prioritize certain features before others. For example, an ugly nose cancels out perky breasts. I also feel the same way about personality, which is a factor in the attractiveness of a person. Gender doesn't figure into it. If I met a man with the right features I would be attracted to him.

Coincidentally, the attitudes and features I don't like are prevalent in black women more often than white women. If I had said that I don't find darker skin attractive, that's a specific feature, but it might not rank very high. That doesn't even make me racist... it just means I'm not attracted to that feature.

I've met plenty of black women who exhibit both the physical and personality characteristics that I find attractive, and plenty of white women who have those that I find the opposite.

I would suggest that it's not necessarily the ethnicity one isn't attracted to, but the more common attitude. As a result, someone might not bother talking to a good-looking black woman if their experience with personalities has been negative.

But can you address the statistics?

Tinybear.. that's a good point. Though, marriage is almost always entirely mutual in the US and according to Newsweek, 43% of black women between the ages of 30-34 have never been married.

Personally, I suspect it is because the male is adventurous, and ventures outside the self segregated community. At least more than the females receive visitors from the outside.

OK. I know I posted to this thread. But my post, and my subscription to the thread doesn't appear. I would expect that, if what I posted were unacceptable, that I would have received some sort of notification, but, nothing. My post isn't here and I didn't hear a thing.

Ok. To restate (as best I can) what was said previously.

I have nothing directly against black women. There have been a lot of black women I have found to be VERY attractive. However, I have always had a question as to what black men found attractive in a woman. It must be veru different from what I look for in a woman.

I really like large breasts. However, on a black woman, often, large breasts are often associated with a large derrier. While that, in itself, isn't a turnoff for me, it obviously doesn't have the same appeal to me as it does to black men, as evidenced by a number of rap and hip-hop songs.

I tend not to be attracted to large, wide noses. While that, in itself would not be a "make or break" issue, combined with many African-American features, it is a bit of a turn-off.

Kinky hair also is not something, by itself, that would send me away from a woman. However, it is more prevelant in black women, and without something to offset that feature, it isn't something that I find attractive.

So, I don't consider myself racist, and would never send a woman away just because she's black, (because my wife wouldn't approve of me being with ANY other woman, might do it, though. ) it is often difficult for me to find a black woman attractive.

(I could take this whole thing to other characteristics that are not racially defined. For example, I find large breasts attractive, but if a woman's waist is close to the size of her breasts, that's a HUGE turnoff for me. I know men who don't care about such things, but I prefer a woman's curves to be going in the "proper" direction. A significant waist and hips, with larger breasts is ok. A waist larger than the breasts and/or the hips, is not. Hey, not all guys agree, but that's my take on things.)
