Thin catwalk models

If only two catwalk models worldwide have died of anorexia ( that we know of), isn't it a bit of an over reaction to put a ban on models with a BMI of below 18?

Anorexia is supposed to have a mortality of 10% , so 2 people is really not a lot considering how thin the models have to be.

Although I do agree that under 16 year olds should not be used as models for clothes for adult women.

Models with BMIs of 18 negatively influence young people, and stresses the issue that being slender is beauty.

Starving yourself to be fashionably skinny is like driving drunk. While there's no guarantee that drinking will cause you will hit something and become injured or die, your chances of doing just that are a lot better.

There's fashion and there's intelligence. They don't always go well together.

Not a day goes by that I don't see something that reinforces my belief that people are idiots.

I find the anorexic look ugly.

Give me a women with a little meat on her bones.

Or better yet, the nice hips that come from having a baby and then getting back to the pre-pregnancy weight.

They have that modeling agency for women of "average" sizes and I think it's a great thing. Jamie Lee Curtis is a big proponent of women not being ashamed of being healthy and full figured, and I think that trend is gaining momentum.

And just to clairfy I think I speak for many when I say "full figured" is a very different thing than FAT.
There is that clear line of demarcation between being fat and being FAT. (Super HUGE)

Its a sad thing though, when a girl who weighs 140 wants to kill herself cause she thinks she is too fat. This Hollywood Anorexia look is getting tiresome.

If it the ban is put in place by the fashion industry, I see it as an acceptable, if completely inconsequential, move. If the ban is forced upon us by the government, I see it as yet another infringement of our right to freedom of expression. I could do without Tony Blair dictating what I can and can’t find attractive to look at.

Thank you. My PC detector was going off, but I've been screening my calls.

It's getting tiresome.

I'm guessing it won't be long until my first inclination is to shoot.
