| BANNED Location: New York Posts: 4,217 | You mean the Reversal Dismissive is the same as your Canned Troll? It's not the same. Or do you mean RD Troll that I've shown twice in this thread is the same one who does the Canned Troll? Just link to the post you're taking about a don't list a name. It's inevitable that we're gonna find out who you are referring to, just make it clear that you're referring to that style of post and not necessarily that person. Plus, I know what you mean about the One-Track Mind Troll. There are a couple on VC who still do that... I'll have to see when they do it again. Canned Troll would need an example. And Plagiarism Troll needs an example too... although I wouldn't call it Plagiarism... you're talking about the type who quotes something but you doubt whether it's an actual quote or just something they wrote themselves and wrapped in quote tags? |

Canned Troll would be hard to show without bringing in stuff from other forums...which the mods frown upon. But you can usually tell if you follow a thread started by one of these people for long enough. The first post reads like an essay, and subsequent ones are in the same style but often do not directly address other people's responses. These responses too are scripted. The later posts in the thread show that Canned Troll has run out of pre-prepared material as they are poorly argued and are usually just endless repetition of previous posts. Plagiarism Troll takes something verbatim off of a website or out of a book and posts it without tagging it. Sometimes this is out of laziness/absentmindedness, etc., but sometimes Plagiarism Troll is just hoping no one will notice. | BANNED Location: New York Posts: 4,217 | Ahhh... Yeah... Canned Troll is hard to cite. I'm on other forums as well, and I know what you mean. I wouldn't so much call it Plagiarism as I would Lazy. Though one must wonder about the motivation for it... sometimes that website would also contain a contradiction to what someone quoted. I actually saw it happen once on a completely different site... a link was used as reference and they quoted the text, but the text they quoted was done in such a way as it omitted the words following the text which actually stated that the text that was quoted is false. It would be like saying, "2 + 2 = 5 is obviously false" and then someone quoting it as "2 + 2 = 5" and then saying that it came from Math.com - World of Math Online or something. |

![]() Made of pure win. Posts: 3,795 | Sure. From wiki: In Internet terminology, a troll is a person who enters an established community such as an online discussion forum and intentionally tries to cause disruption, often in the form of posting messages that are inflammatory, insulting, incorrect, inaccurate, absurd, or off-topic, with the intent of provoking a reaction from others.Your words: "Shove ... stuff where the sun doesn't shine... " Notice how the bolded sections correspond? |

I'm basically done here, so pay close attention to how much it continues. You don't have the luxury of an opinion in disputes. Your job is to take the side of Volconvo itself and keeping the peace. I nominate you for Mod Troll... having an opinion on issues where you should be doing your job. Trust me, I noticed the irony and won't post here again. | |

![]() Made of pure win. Posts: 3,795 | The irony here is that I have been on really good behavior of late. The problem with debating online is the tendency of reading a "tone" into the posts of others. Once you begin hearing it, it's hard to imagine that person posting without it. "Hello!? That CENSORED said hello to me!? I'll report him. I'll flame him. That CENSORED." |

| westernstreet7.com Location: Houston, TX Posts: 2,882 | Unfortunately, I really don't think this thread can be very productive. The very nature of it invites flame wars. If someone really is a troll, our moderating team will take care of it. But, either way, this will only make matters worse. I'm going to go ahead and close this one. |
