Hey, the quote should speak for itself - otherwise one could consider it trolling as well.

Troll Patrol brutality!

Indeed.

That's why I omit names.

I only link to the post so it doesn't look like I'm making shit up.

I was referring to little comments like these

"Uncalled for.

Oh, and I have changed genders, apparently.

And fairies make me tick."

I understand, rez.

Personally, I've listed examples of the following trolls:

Infraction Troll
Reversal Dismissive Troll
Drama Troll
Parrot Troll

I don't see how that quote of yours, apparently, was necessarily trolling.

Because he made a rebuttal, but a rather ignorant one to my own "troll" statement. I am ok if he thought I was trolling, but he didn't have to add anything else to my own quote. He misrepresented my thoughts and baited me to respond.

as you can see, I fell for it...hook, line, and sinker.

Great stuff so far guys...

Fonc, thanks for omitting names, I think that will keep the flame wars down. Everyone please be encouraged to follow this style.

And always remember everyone, keep comments after the quotes neutral. So far no real abuse of this thread...that's a good sign

omitting names still leaves a trackback where you can see who it was.

Clearly, you are talking out of both sides of your mouth if you compare Creationism with Evolution while at the same time claiming that Evolution doesn't attempt to explain the origin of life.

If you are to be believed, we may as well close this thread, because, according to you, Creationism and Evolution are two completely different, unrelated subjects - one dealing with the Origin of Life and Species, one dealing with Intraspecies Variation.
I consider it trollish posting when one doesn't even understand a concept well enough to properly refute it. Using clichès in place of intelligent rebuttal is a sign of trolling to me. Especially when the clichès are repeated frequently without support or elaboration.

Did you intentionally omit the link back to that post you quoted?

Religion(S) are a full of crud and are explaned as this:

[b][u]When people are faced with an impossibility they accept the existense of some super natural being that can accomplish this impossible task, so therefore all so called gods are nonoe other than someones imaginary "friend" that can do certain tasks that we cannot. all that people, in my opinion, who wrote "holy scriptures" and stuff were probably sick and tired of seeing people acting inappropriately in their lives and decided to write a book which would have to be translated into guidelines on how to behave in life and that they would be rewarded if these guidelines were followed.
Eh, sometimes flame wars aren't so bad. I like the smell of napalm in the morning. Actually, maybe not, if it's on me or something.

But what's to stop the manic tide,
The suicide of our own pride?

@Chris

I leave the linkback in just because I don't want it perceived that I'm making shit up.

It also allows people to see the quotes in context and see how, in context, they are still trollish.

Yes, because I was using it as a generic example of the preachy types who add nothing of substance, no originality, to the threads they post in. Cut and paste articles from religious websites full of inaccuracies and untruths. At least a few of us atheists have been theists and have studied religions. When we speak against it, we do so with some knowledge. It irks me someone can't even be bothered to learn enough to speak intelligently about a subject, but are more than ready to denounce it.

I was just asking. I see enough troll effluvia the FIRST time to make me not want to go back and see it AGAIN.

But I agree. You should at least know SOMETHING of what you speak of to argue a point. Too many people are under the impression their opinions are just as good as facts sometimes.

Examples of how?

Even better, throw in "types" of trolling (for fun) like I did with my examples.

More of the Reversal Dismissive Troll...

Straw man.
Prime example of a Reversal Dismissive Troll.

Person A brings up something, Person B responds to it, then Person A dismisses it with a fallacy reference.

I consider it trolling simply on the "you brought it up in the first place!!" grounds.

There's the one-track mind troll: a troll who finds some way, no matter how tangential, to relate every single topic to the single issue on which he/she ever posts. Example: our dear, departed Underbear1.

How about the canned troll: a troll who has a word document of a canned argument on a pet subject that he posts on every single debate forum on the internet. Can't cite who I'm thinking of here because he's still on the board.

Or a close relative of the canned troll, the plagiarism troll: a troll who copies large blocks of text from somewhere else and does not cite a source.

Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. -- Song 8:6
