Perhaps you are confused.

Just because I don't expect a busy man to sit down and pen a response to every emotional appeal he recieves, does not mean that I, "don't expect anything to be done about it."

So it appears that by penning your letters in a way that requires such a waste of time on the part of their recipients, and then turning around and chastising me for not writing only when I can be assured of similarly wasting their time, while simultaneously accusing me of wasting your time, you have attained the rare and legendary feat of logical prestidigitation known as triple irony..........bravo!!

How would one annotate that mathematically, I wonder?

Au contraire, mon ami.......I did answer it, just not the way you wanted, perhaps.

Suffice it to say I did not expect my letter to recieve any more attention than the thousands of others the good Senators undoubtedly recieve weekly, but rather that it be counted as one more on the pile weighing in on the side of the troops and their mission.

That is effect enough to justify the writing, no matter how much others view my time as wasted.

That's as good as a desired effect as any; to add your voice to the multitude. In this case, you'll just have to hope there is a multitude to which your voice will be added.
