Tonight I watched the news on channel 7 and they mostly aired the stories I already reported about yesterday. So I will not provide any local news for California.

The world news section had a few new topics of interest to forum debaters.

Mr Gates, following in the footsteps of Mr Rumsfield, went to Iraq and he was told by the exiting commander in charge of operations that the new troops already arriving in Irag will start to return home in about six months when the Irag government feels safe again in their own city of Bagdad. And he gave a speculated timeline for withdraw which he said should be around the end of this summer. Clearly these words were designed to take the wind out of Democratic demands for a set "timeline" for troop withdraw. However it was noted that the same commander made the same predictions before things got worse in Irag. They seem to have taken a clue from Action Hero Arnold by "giving it all we got (21000) while establishing a timeline. Of course, the end date is subject to change if the unrest does not calm down, some factors that could make that endtime reasonable is that they arrested some of the leaders of the insurgents and the fact that England is now releasing a number military ready troops from their training camps which will enlarge the number of people who live in Iraq who will be enforcing the laws. And they say that the government of Iraq is now ready to cooperate with our new plan to bring about the new Irag Order.

Meanwhile miles over Bagdad the country of China tested a rocket that can blow up any orbiting space craft. They tested the missle on one of their own orbiting sattelites. Our network of sattelites are no longer out of the reach of China who can now destroy our communicational, weapon guidance systems, and your local news if you got Dish. But not me.

I am here for the long duration, but not so for snow. Communities that offer a wide range of snow related recreational activities have found out that in 10 or 15 years they will be out of business due to global warming. The tourest traffic will not come to their communities to ski or whatever because they will have no more snow to offer then. They will have to move down with us and find other types of jobs, but at least they can say "I have been on the mountian". But their dreams are rapidly melting away. Which is hard to believe if you are in the middle of the big freeze out happening through out the USA.

In my weather report (see above posting from past few days) I predicted strong winds and already it is happening, hurricane force winds blew through England and Germany causing distruction and death. Major wind and rain storms where winds were clocked up to 90 miles per hour.

Well, blow me down shorty, my weather forcast was correct. More wind and wind to come before we settle down a for a little break. Which brings us back to Iraq which is famous for it's wind storms that blast everything with sand from the deserts, will our troops be able to handle that as summer arrives?

By the way channel 7 gave a few more details about the new "no spanking law" which is being submitted by a middle aged lady who never had any kids of her own. But she has one cat.

Okay kids, if you do not potty train right away we will rub your nose in that doo doo. But will not spank you.

Which brings up an idea for a new topic "should we mix politics and phychology together, or should we ban phychology from having an influence on law making like we did religion? Should phychology become the new religion of morality or not? Let's call Dr Phil and find out.

That is the gobal news as I spin it. Later 'gator.

Not many newsworthy stories on the news for past few days. But I should update things and so here goes.

The chief of police had out all the reporters at this house in L.A. that they said was one of the headquaters for gang activity. They raided the house and arrested the people inside. It seemed important for police department to show that they are doing something to end gang activity and drive-by shootings in L.A. (California).

Meanwhile members of that street gang gathered to watch the police at work, and seemed to be having fun joking with reporters who inverviewed them, expressing they loyality to their neighborhood gang.

It is estimated that about 15.000 people belong to those L.A. gangs. Nearly as many people belong to the gangs as we got in Iraq to fight our war over there. The main motivation for belonging to a gang is not about selling drugs or even to get violent. It is about a kind of "neighborhood pride" that seems to promote for "united teamwork" among gang members. And the gangs have grandfather members and kids as young as 8 years of age.

The chief of police made a big speech in front of cameras at the location where the raid took place, as did other law enforcement departmental heads.
The news aired a "small soundbite" from two of the speeches. They selected a Mexican-American location for the TV appearence rather then in then the Black community (which also has some well known gangs).

(2) The new health plan for California is gettng through the red tape and the final nod for it going into effect is expected. Doctors and businesses (that have more then 10 employees) will be taxed to help pay for the program so that us mainstream voters will not be taxed, the tax is called "a fee". Health insurance will be provided to everyone on a "ability to pay" scale. Even undocumented workers who are here unlawfully will be covered under this health plan.

As soon as the health plan is done they are expected to vote for and to pass a new schedule for opening voting booths for the Presidential primary, our primary will be moved to an earlyer date - such as they have in Ohio, and so wanna be canidates will have to win in California in order to get nominated for the big and final race. We were the last ones to hold our primary but no more.

We have Jerry Brown working on ways to replace oil dependant gasoline and to reduce other factors related to global warming. You might recall Jerry Brown who was also a former governor of Calif, and who once ran for President but lost the race by a small margin. He acturally is intelligent enough about environmental stuff to know what to do.

The mayor of L.A. in on a trip to Washington DC but not sure why.

Meanwhile Arnolds job performance rating among voters has surged to 61 percent approval. His highest rating so far, and he is perhaps the most popular Republican - rating wise - of any Republican in the USA.

Now for the ET news, the black TV actor has signed up for phychological treatment after calling a white co-worker "a Fag". And for disrupting the global award presentations with his attempted cover-up. The Oscar awards will be next and Hollywood is getting ready, a lot of new-comers will be getting awards apparently instead of the "big name" actors who are now getting old and grey. They want to attract a younger, next generation, to have interest in the Oscar presentations because they are the ones who spend most of the money going to the movies anyway. The new musical "Dream Girls" seems to be getting a lot of "nods" from Hollywood.

Bin Laden has not appeared with any filmed speeches lately, wonder if his camera man ran out of film? Or is he acturally dead and no one can confirm that? The silent treatment from Bin Laden is the best good news happening today.

Be back later.,,, and that is our global news as I spin it. Technosoul.

World News for tonight.

President Bush made it clear he is the Commander and Chief and the "one" who will determine how and where to direct the troops, not Congress nor critics within the population sector. And he is going ahead with his plan to send in an additional 2100.00.

The House Speaker is in Iraq speaking to those in charge of the government in Iraq about what to do, but has made no sweeping comments yet about what she learned.

Meanwhile the troops in Iraq who are involved in the fighting are unhappy about what Americans are now saying about the war effort advocated by President Bush. "You cannot support the troops and not support the war" and they say "All we are fighting for, and who some of us have died for, will be in vain if we if we pull out at this stage". That undermines those who feel that we should not send more military into harms way during that civil war, however they WANT to be there fighting and they want to see results (peace) before they walk out of Iraq - not chaus. They want to leave when Iraq is better off then it was before the war. They do not want to become like the Nam vets who found out that they were in an unpopular war and suffered it for "no reason worth talking about".

However there is concern that the Iraq military people are trustworthy and that they can be depended upon. The new plan is to implant 30 of our men into a larger unit of men trained in Iraq, to do the "house clearing" attacks in Bagdad. The fear is that our men will not get the backing nor support of the Iraq people once the danger appears. Some of their people do not remain on guard duty and simply leave their posts unsecured, it is reported about the Irag para-military police. And the total numbers might not be enough to contorl the growing number of insurgents. Again Bush pointed a finger of blame at Iran, repeating his rumor that they are somehow involved in a major way with a terrorist conspiriacy to defeat our objectives in Iraq.

But we have another major story that effects the lives of millions here in the USA. Children who live near a freeway will grow up with lung problems that will over time cause them grave problems breathing and death when they get much older. A 14 year study has keep track of kids near freeways and their health status during those years. In L.A. every kids lives close to the network of freeways and other very busy highways where cars and trucks constantly polute the air. Millions just in L.A. alone, and if you add other compacted cities to the list, we are talking about billions being killed by transportation fumes (tiny particals of dust). Which are unseen and not felt for years - and then it is too late.

Under Arnolds new plan the government is starting to supply the state with clean buring vehicles that are used for "governmental use" - which can go 80 miles per hour in an emergency. The hybred is predicted to be the future for regular drivers as we make that one switch, as the large orders for governmental cars will bring down the cost so that others can get one.

Now for a small news story. A large church in Long Beach Ca. became a popular place for skate boarders to hang out and play. The grounds had idea sidewalks and benches that skate boarders enjoy taking advantage of. During the Christmas break on of the Church "fathers" scared all the teens off the church property, so they could no longer use that site for skate boarding,. Then the day after Christmas the "father" woke up to find out that someone had "be-headed Jesus" - a statue they had out in front of the church building. The Church blamed the teen skate boarders but had no real proof (eye witness or otherwise) to confirm they did it for revenge. But there it was - the poor statue of Jesus with his head chopped off. (a hate crime?).
The police are investigating.

Anit war and/or peace groups protested in mass today in a number of cities.
Because it is now poltically correct to appose Bush they did not send out the riot police to club people or to dispurse the crowd. Which they did a few years ago when the war was still politically correct.

A request for federal investigation is underway conerning 9 black teenager ( 8 girls and one guy ) who were found guilty of beating up 3 white women. They came form the projects but were trick or treating in Bixby Knolls a nighborhood of rich people. The girls said that when the fighting broke out they ran away as fast as possible but were not involved, but the girls in that carload dropped a cell phone at the location near the beating which the cops used as evidence that they did it. (people had on masks). The beating was listed as a "hate crime" which carries a stiffer jail term. The girls were about 14 years of age. Their nieghbors from the black community came out in support of the girls, they are all getting high marks in school and one of them was famous for a sports compitition held in Japan. The girls are waiting in jail until the sentence is read. This took place in (north) Long Beach Ca.

Yesterday the newsman on NBC (local station) said we had a 10 percent chance of rain but only in the mountians, but it rained all over L.A. and floods become a problem in some areas. Which conforms closer to my weather reports as stated in above postings.

Tiger Woods is still putting along in good form.

Prince Charles will recieve a award for "environmentalism" in New York this week, He was promoting the idea that something must be done about global warming way before mainstream reporters finally discovered that it is a real problem, back they he was called "crazy Charlie" for his environmental perspectives but no more. He brought along his x-girl friend with whom he is now married, as unlike Mr Clinton he could not get impeached.

Meanwhile Mrs Clinton is running all over Ohio drumming up support for her Presidential run for the White House. And the former mayor (also from New York) is running around New Hamshire dumming up votes as the Republican canidate. Guess what, they are for better education and affordable health care. No "fine print" provided as yet.

Within weeks all canadates will need to spend millions in TV promos if they hope to survive to the next stage of the election process, as a number of mega states are upping their primary to Feduary.

Technosoul stubbed his big toe... I can toss that into the news because I am the reporter in charge and we can only have one "Commander and Chief" for this newscast.

With all due respect, there are no debatable topics here....this is blog material, not debate stuff. In future, I'd recommend posting this to a blog - NOT 'Into the Blue', but rather starting up your own blog (see top of the page (blogs) - or shifting this to General or Misc.

I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

I have my own blog called "Into the Blue" where I write about improtant stuff.

Every now in then I get the bug to make comments about the Evening News but some monitors were unhappy because I did not put in a link nor did I repeat the story word for word as it is programmed by Washington or others to read.

Most of my news stories were moved to the "goofball" forum here at Volconvo. But this time the post survived.

But why would say I should Blog? Too many topics in one message to handle?

Then I suggest maybe starting another blog. This type of format is worthy of its own blog. Who knows it may even be a bit successful.

I am not sure how a blog becomes successful or why that might matter? I hope you can elaborate on that matter. Is it successful because it attracts advertising or because people e-mail it all over the place so that it becomes famous, or what? I have no idea to be truthful. I have always done forums and chat rooms - the blog concept is new to me - so what is up with blogging?

The PM that informed me that this chain was moved to the "sidetracked" section (as I had expected) asked that I do not respond to it. (it being an automatic PM)

Do we have "Automatics" monitoring Volconvo and who are they - robots or what?

But I will take your advice and do a blog. This message chain is ended relative to my posting messages in it, Those who have been following this news review (of the 3rd kind) can continue to do so by finding my new Blog - called "Into The News" - which should not be confused with my other Blog, INTO THE BLUE.

But if you can let me know how a "blog can be successful"? And towards what goal? That would be great of you.... I will check back here for an answer.

a successful blog can be high traffic numbers, and this in turn can translate into money using advertising. It also is good to be popular.

It can be almost a business if you are good at it. Never spam, as that is the equivalent of whoring. Good quality content with high traffic and subtle advertising. Thats a good blog. You can post it here or you can post one at one of the free places like Blogger or Wordpress.

Well I would not want to spend time trying to promote a blog of mine, I tried that with a webpage I once had and got no place fast.

I did post a blog called "into the blue" and about five people a day look at it, but it contains nothing of wide spread interest to advertisers.

I was going do one about the news, giving a new slant on the news, I would have to take great care (more so then above) with my opinons. However because I have a blog already I cannot start a new one, as I see no button to post a new blog - only a button reading "my blog" which takes me to the one I already started that is not about news.

Perhaps I can try elsewhere like Blogger or Wordpress? Being I have used up my one and only chance here at Volconvo.

It was my intended purpose here to post news that would be of interest for debating politics - as politics are everywhere - not just related to Washington topics. The "Arnold" news chain stirred some debate but the one moved here did not, perhaps because people agreed with the remarks. Or because the postings were a bore? Whatever.

Posting in the news sections takes a lot of pasting and posting and I do not like how they tell the story because they cannot say it like it is.

And I did it for fun and not for money or to be popular.

So here I am in the po' boy section amoung the other unpopular postings - like in the basement or where they put someone on the night shift where no one will gripe about them as much.

So because I cannot post a new blog at volconvo I will continue here and the above will not be my last entry ( I am flip flopping ).

Turn in tomorrow or Monday for my nest news story.

Here is my Monday spin on Sunday news. (Better late then never).

President Bush has not changed his mind nor any of this agendas for Irag, Apparently his State of the Union address where he advocated working with Democrats in order to reach some sort of middle ground about what to do in Iraq was not carried out.

Former President Al Gore will be presnenting the environmental award to Prince Charles. He is being awarded for using his status to advocate environmental programs which he also has supported with a number of doations over the years. However he did these things in a quite way and is not as famous as Diana who advocated human rights programs.

A wanna-be Sandy sang "I love rock and roll" and made it sound like a moderate pop song. A wanna be Danny sang a Roy Orbison song, Big misstake, he could not hit the high notes. And the other wanna-be Dannys (for new broadway production of Greese) all sounded like amatures, except for the "Slacker" who brought the meaning of "cool" back to the 1950s musical.

A hurge chuck of ice fell from the sky and smashed a guys car on a sunny day,. The airports claim they cannot pin point which airplane did it due to 'air currents". Hmm? Let us hope his auto insurence covers "an Act of God" just in case the ice was caused by a paranormal weather event.

Well the Democrats and Republicans have got all the newsmen to focus in on the next Presidential election which is a distraction from Congress doing something about Iraq or domestic problems. The Democrats have about 9 people running and Republicans now have 10 collecting donations for the big run in just under two years form now.

But my comment about his is that I would rather vote for someone who is in Washington doing things that need doing, instead of running all over the country making lame speeches. The Demos might only have two years to do something, as who knows? The power advantage they now enjoy might shift again in two years.

Observers have predicted that things could heat up again in Afganistan due to internal conflicts or with the return of A-Q supporters (who might now be in training elsewhere). If things fall apart in Afganistan as they currently have in Iraq then the image of Amiercan military might will look mighty poor, to say the most. Let us hope they do not focus totally on Iraq and Iran and leave the orginal battlefield open for the return of A-Q occupation.

This is the global news as I spin it - from my new office in the basement.

Jane Fonda was a keynote speaker at the anti-war protest event held in Washington DC over the weekend, she has not taken part in a protest since the Nam war but she could no longer hold her peace when it came to Iraq and President Bush. So she came out agian... Tim Robbins also spoke out to advocate the impeachment of President Bush. 500.000 people took part in that demonstration.

The lastest big war in Iraq was spearheaded by a religious leader who claimed to be a "messinger of God". They had well trained combatants and were well supplied with automatic weap ons and missiles. They thought they could bring on the final doomsday on behalf of God. USA bombers however wiped them out killing from 200 to 300 people belonging to that cult.

President Bush said he would respond firmly if Iran builds up military support for insurgent activity in Iraq. Meaning that the USA would bomb key locations inside of Iran but we would not invade the country with our troops.
The fact that President Bush continues to repeat that theme is a sure sign he fully intends to bomb Iran before departing office.

Eight former Black Panthers have been arrested related to charges of being involved in the killing of a police officer in 1971. This is the 2nd time they were arrested, the first time the case was tossed out because the police used torture to get confessions. I do not know the reasoning that allowed them to re-open the case and to make the new arrests last week.

MY COMMENTS - Democrats and true Republicans should take a stand now to prevent a war on Iran. We should not allow the anit-war protest about Iraq to distract us from stopping the Iran war before it is too late. It is okay if people who came from Iran are killed during the fighting happening inside Iraq, for such would be unavoidable, but we should not attack Iran because some individuals fighting in Iraq came from Iran, if that is even the case? I have not seen any factual reports to support that claim.

And that is our global news as I spin it. Check back later for more.

Please take note that this news presentation is not controlled by the right or left wing media nor by advertisers.

Dude, its not hard to post articles in Breaking News. But they must be "Breaking News" and follow this format:

* TITLE: The title as it appears in the article
* Link to the news article (must be a major news source)
* A small quote from the article (use [ QUOTE] and [/ QUOTE])
* Your comments (optional)

You can comment on news articles giving "your slant" if you will. Also if it is not breaking news, you can find the existing topic on Politics and post your input. That makes for good content. This ongoing thread is more of a blog style format. Cause its just you on a "soapbox" if you will. If you comment on ongoing news items in existing threads, I dont see a problem. Dont go starting a million threads in the same format though.

If you provide your "slant" on these existing threads that should be ok.

When you are at the bottom the only way you can go is up.

I have already used my chance to create a blog with my "into the blue" ramblings. I can find no way to create another blog while here at volconvo because the button for new blog now reads "my blog". I did not really feel like going to another webpage to do my postings because Volconvo contains some other topics I like to remain involved in - and I do not want my blog to have the wall posted with advertising. They do have two ads posted at the top as "links" but they are not all that distracting.

However if you wish to "debate" why I am not blogging then I can do that, but it would sidetrack from the main topic which is about the "news". I believe that most news stories contain something that a person might wish to gripe about, so they gripe and then someone else does not agree, then "a bam a lam" you got a debate going. It's up to you to generate a debate by making a comment about a news story that would stir disagreements. At times I add some comments in order to help promote debates.

I can lead a horse to water but I cannot make it debate. Ralph Weirdo Elmo.

Or - you can take one of the news stories and create a seperate debate in one of the other locations here at Volconvo.

I do not like to post on the "breaking news" page because they force me to post the story "word of word" as it was presented by the News Castor and only on a "big name" station- like CNN or NBC. I like to report news and do it "my way". So here it 'tis.

My next report is for Jan. 30. '07

President Bush signed a directive today that give him more control. The directive will consolidate control of many Governmental departments by placing them under the command of the White House.

Each department will have an appointed supervisor who will frame rules and regulations for that department to make sure they carry out the pirorites of the President. The departments that will be overviewed have to do with public safty, the environment, privacy, and civil rights.

Henry Waxman a Democrat Congressman from California stated some objections to this new executive order. He noted that it gave the President too much control. Consumer, Labor, and Environmental "special interest" groups also denounced the new directive for the same reason. The story broke in the New York Times newspaper.

Last year Nasa's top climate scientist got into trouble trying to speak out about greenhouse gasses and global warming under pressure from the Bush staff. Today on Capital Hill the Oversite Committiee is holding hearing to look into the possbile interference of the Bush White House with governmental scientists.

Israel has just signed a contract with USA company called Boeing, and will spend 100 million for a new weapons deal. The new deal will allow Israel to convert conventional bombs into satellite guided, precision weapons.

Meanwhile Human Rights groups are objecting the fact tha Israel dropped 4 million cluster bombs on South Lebanon last year. Where as the USA only used 2 million of those sub-munitions in total for all three wars we conducted in Iraq, Afganistan and Kosovo. The Human Rights advocates are trying to encourage the USA from selling any more Cluster Bombs to Israel. The protesting group is called "Human Rights Watch".

A USA medical charity has estimated that about a half million people have fled from their homes last year in Bagdad and has predicted that as many as one million more people will be displaced in the coming months. ( as the Surge on Insurgents goes into full effect).

Shell Oil has signed a deal with the country of Iran to develop a major gas field in the Persian Gulf. Next to Russia Iran has the largest resource for natual gas in the world. The White House is not happy about this new contract made by Shell, an international company. The Bush staff is now wondering what to do about the deal - if they should impose sanctions on Shell Oil or not.

The Army annoucned that it has started 50 criminal cases that involve how private contractors were stealing money related to the reconstruction of Irag, these private companies were appointed by President Bush and the White House staff. Robert Stien who was the funding officer for the Coalition Provisional Authority has admitted to stealing more then two million after getting one million in bribes. He was found guilty and must serve nine years in jail. Halliburton was not named in the news story as one of the private contractors who ripped us (taxpayers) off, nor were the names of any of the private companies named.

Miami is making big plans for a big "Fidel Castro Day" which will offically celebrate his death each year. They are preparing for this holiday celebration now so that when he dies they can put it into effect promptly.

That is the global news as I spin it.

Jan 31 - NBC ( local) news did not have much to report that was worth repeating, one story reported a study that came up with some facts about strokes and heart attacks. You have a 97% greater chance of death if you live near freeways or industral sites (due to particles in the air that come out of tailpipes and / or factories. Riverside and L.A. were listed as the worse areas within the United States. The study was conducted using women. (not children as in the other news article). The news program had a doctor who suggested you get a house with a lot of green trees and plants around it to help counter-act the polution. He also suggested not going outside at times when rush hour traffic is the greatest, mornings and evenings.

In another story the Union Mission on skid row has opened a "Internet Cafe" for homeless people, that area of L.A. contains thousands of homeless people. They can log on for a half hour at the cost of one buck. The fee gives them a sense of dignity, the mission said. They can use the computer to find jobs, send e-mails to their family (often in another state) and who knows - to debate you people here on Volconvo. I do not know if the Union Mission allows them to check out a prono site or not.

Republicans in the California state government are objecting to Arnolds new health plan for everyone. They feel his fee for Doctors and business is really a new tax. The plan would force insurance companies to provide health insurance to everyone reguardless of their health records or their citizenship status. (undocumented employees and day workers must be insured).

The 17 year old actor of Peter Potter is getting nude to promote his new movie, he wants to change his public image to advance his career. Not sure if Peter showed his peter in the promotional images. You gals will need to check the net because NBC did not provide us with all the details.

Boring.... I have now switched to channel 2 - perhaps they have some better news stories I can talk about.

A new bill is being proposed that will regulate models in New York elsewhere, to be enforced by the Labor Board. They will set healthy weight standards and models under the age of 18 must have a normal weight if they wish to work as a model. This is being done to stop the "skin and bone" skinny models from the fasion spotlight.

A black woman speeding to the hospital to give birth was stopped by police who did not believe she was in an emergency. When she could not prove ownership of the car ( loaned by a friend) they handcuffed her and she spent the night in jail. The next day she delivered a child but it died. She is sueing the police.

Weather - sunny and 80 degree weather predicted for Sunday when the Superbowl is held. Experts have speculated that fans at the superbowl will fush the tolets three thousand times duing halftime. (that is right folks, channel 2 acturally reported that on the local news).

The state of California is concidering a ban on some kinds of light bulbs (and some lamps would become un-usable without those bulbs). Energy conservation and preventing black outs is behind the planned ban. CSLs will be the only ones allowed under the ban, regular bulbs will not. This will also help to prevent global warming, the experts say. Neon anyone?

Lavender oils used in shampos can cause your breasts to grow larger, which was alarming to some men who used the products to clean their hair, once they stopped use of the products they returned to normal. (wonder if farmers can use it on cows?).

Being allowed to sleep on the job might become law in France if it is proven that napping can make employees more productive in the afternoons.

Killer Whales (following Samon fish) were spotted off California coast, they normally are not in this area at this time of year.

World News:

A terrorist group was captured in England who were planning to torture and kill a Muslem member of the British military when he came home from fighting in Iraq, and then show the tape on the Internet. Britain has a lot of Muslems living there and some of the neighborhoods have not intergraded into the mainstream culture.

A protest group called Code Pink occupied the election office of Mrs Clinton today demanding that she make as statement about ending the war in Iraq. "we want a woman of peace, not just a woman" the Code Pink group chanted. The protesters were arrested by the police.

Germany has charged 13 CIA agents with the unlawful kidnapping and torture of a citizen of Germany, named Masri. Italy is also concidering if they should try two dozen CIA agents in the kidnapping of cleric Abu Omar.

Cnet news reported that the FBI is collecting a lot more information from the internet on "innocent" Americans (who are not people of interest relative to terrorism). They have a mass database now that can be mined for personal information contianing names, e mail adresses, and keywords. (and who know what else?).

A Grand Jury has ruled that the rights of about 200 people were violated (by searches and arrests) when they gathered in a public park to protest the World Trade Organization in 1999. The police department wants to appeal the finding.

Immigration fee is going up from $400 to $675 dollars in California for the swearing in processes to become a USA citizen. This is a proposed fee and they want the public to comment on it before putting it into effect. People have two months to make their opinons known to the authorities, Some feel it will prevent a large number of poor worker to get a citizenship because they cannot afford the big hike in the cost of getting sworn in.

82 members of the USA military died during January fighting in Iraq.

A highschool in California wants it's grads to be able to take an active part in politics by knowing how to vote. And so it became mandatory for them to regester to vote before passing the last grade. Many of the students were mad because they do not feel they should be forced to take part in the election processes by voting or getting regestered to a poltical party. But they will get a failing mark if they if they refuse. That report was filed from the state capital in California.

Billy Joel will sing the Natonal Anthem at the Superbowl this year. In an interveiw he said that it is a difficult song to sing because no one really knows the meanings of the words, and they often mess up the high notes.
Also, Big Brother will be out in full force at the Superbowl with hi-tech cameras that can spot faces of "people of interest" (terrorists) and they will have a small army of undercover agents and bomb sniffing dogs.

The insurgents in Iraq are now shooting down choppers with ground to air missles (hand held weapons) and that is making the task of controlling the ground by air more difficult for our military, and has resulted in a number of deaths for about a month now. They speculate that weapon dealers from China have supplied them with the new rockets. Six choppers have been shot down recently and others have crashed due to "questionable" reasons, the military is conducting a speical investigation about why those crashes are happening and how to prevent it.

Cell phones have become the new "gossip grape vine" at schools accross the nation, tech messages and e-mails can spread rumors at a rapid rate.
Boys are using that new technology to control their girlfriends and to intimidate them. A large number of teens have suffered phychological abuse because that new technology. Bill collectors have also become meaner attempting to intimadate people over the telephone by using electronic messages that can repeat over and over, and by telling people they can be arrested if they do not pay a bill right away.

Street gangs now have created an international network of drugs and violence. They operate in many cities here in the USA and have had a major impact in many countries through-out South America. Members sometimes move back and forth between South America and the USA. They are involved in crimes to rip people off and to import drugs and they advocate violence and drive by shootings which terrorize neighborhoods. Even while in prision the leaders are able to conduct business using cell phones.

Meanwhile about 40 thousand farm workers in California have been out of work for the past few months due to a icy cold spell that killed the oranges and other produce grown here. The pickers come from South America and Mexico for those seasonal jobs. Now they are stuck in isolated farming areas with no money for rent or for food, but this week moble units were sent out so they can get unemployment checks which will hold them over for about six months (max) or until work is started up again. Also a worker's Union is sending truck loads of food to the area. Rain continues throughout most of California.

The Big Chill has effected many areas in the USA and now England is snowed in. New York can expect a high of 32 tomorrow.

It is now Feduary 12th as I continue with my news review.

As about 80 plus people were killed by bombs our Congress is about to put into effect their new BINDING resolution about the war in Irag. They are making a statement that Bush cannot send in a surge of more then 20.000 new troop personel, however they will support those already in Irag ( by funding them I assume). As you know Bush wanted to send in 21.000 more fighters. Well folks - that is your "new direction for Iraq" that you voted into office.

Anna Nicole Smith might have given birth to a clone of her late husband, according to channel 7 news tonight.

Military officicals (who refused to give their names) made a claim that Iran was sending road boms into Iraq that are used to kill our troops. Iran responded by saying "make the documents (proof) public" but so far that has not been done by USA sources making the claim. When reporters asked Bush if this means war with Iran he "fluffed off" the idea. President Bush claims it is just a "political tactic" on the part of Democrats that he wants to go to war with Iran.

Meanwhile the Washington Post reported that the Vice President's National Security Adviser John Hannah said "The year of 2007 is the Year Of Iran".

The 3rd General up at bat to head up operations in Iraq has put forth our new agenda for "winning". The new reason for the war is now to help Iragis "save the country".

The USA military has conducted strikes upon suspected Taliban forces inside of Pakistan. Not sure if Pakistan leaders agreed to allow the U.S. forces to make the allitary rounds that were employed from Afganistan into Pakistan.

In L.A. we have had two known cases where homeless people were taken to a hospital for emegency medical treatment. The hospitals quickly discharged the patient and drove them to a skid row sidewalk and dumped them on the sidewalk "to survive the best they can" in their helpless condiction, and the last case (captured on a security camera) it was raining when the dumped the guy in front of a downtown mission. The guy lucked out as someone in the Mission had him taken to another hostipal where he is still under treatment.

In California thousands of wild seabirds are dieing around Newport Beach where an inland river flows into the ocean, they have not pin pointed what toxics are causing those deaths and illnesses. It is effecting different kinds of birds that have different eating habits.

California will be conducting mandatory tests at the DMV offices for people over the age of 65 years of age when it comes time for them to renew their "privledge to drive" status. The test will include what they call a "sensitivity test" but not sure what that is. Plus the standard tests.
