But I suppose if this is what you already think will happen, you won't have the confidence to pull it off right, so it might actually sound like your coming out of the closet to them or admitting to being hung like a snowdrop. Or maybe it's just the different types of girls in our areas or that we go for, mine always respond well to cheek and self deprecation.
I'm afraid your advice is culture-specific. Try coming to Seattle and trying your same routine. Let's see how well that works out.

I'm English, so I did secondary (11-16) and sixth form (17-18) and I have been drinking & partying in nightclubs since I was 16. I've been slapped (always funny) and have crap come back to me next day (and all month) for stupid things I've done on nights out but I had to make mistakes if I was gonna refine my game. If your not prepared to fail, you'll never succeed.

Dude, it's not like the lasses believe you when you say this crap. If it was truthful they know you wouldn't be saying it. It's amusing (if you tell it right) and it's probably a new line for them, so you come off as confident, cocky and original. You stand out from all the other idiots trying to catch their eye, which is half the work anyway.

Well here in the states we do things a little differently (unfortunatly) we don't have clubs to go to at 16. We have to sneak to drink. Usually a party at my age consists of a bunch of booze (whatever we can get our hands on) and happens at a house or somewhere not to be bugged. When your in this setting, drinking mostly with your friends and people you'll see a lot later, you don't pull off that stuff. I wish I could club, but I can't so I have to resort to good ole' fashion conversation, minus the pick up line, plus a lot of listening, equals suck, but it's not up to me.

You know, I have never had the urge to buy a woman a drink, but then again, I'm poor.

Equals suck?

OK, I have surmised that men are hoping for sex if they blink at you or buy you a drink, so I may as well let them buy it, haha.

Men are always hoping for sex. It's just the way we're put together.

True. But those are more like the examples derived from a principle, to be original and funny. Whether or not those examples work in your culture, the principle will.

The clubs I went to were for 18+'s but we have a fairly relaxed drinking culture here so it's not hard to get in and get served.

As I said in response to Morgan, if the examples I gave don't fit the situation (I sure as hell wouldn't use those to pick up a lass in a supermarket), find something that still works with the principle of being funny and original. Remember, most good looking women get hit on a lot, so you have to stand out from the crowd.
