Didn't Adams say BEER? Beer, being about 10% alcohol would skew those numbers I would think.

Also, (bonus points for who said it) "How many green chinese pots in a dozen?"
Damn, where do you find 20 proof beer? I drink microbrews and they only run about 5-6%. You can find higher, but it's pretty tough. Most commercial beer in the US is around 4%, in places that have tougher liquor laws, you can only buy 3.2%, or less, in grocery stores. Of course, I don't buy my beer in the grocery, I only buy beer at liquor stores.

It's been a while since I had a beer and I was comparing how faced I used to get with how much alcohol I THOUGHT it would take.

Keith I'm pretty sure Sierra Nevada's got some 11%-ers, but that's the highest I've seen coming out of a domestic brewery.

According to sources, even their Barley Wine is only 9.6%. And, Barley Wine isn't really considered "beer". Barley Wine is served in wine proportions, not in beer proportions, pints and such.

I think 11% is VERY uncommon. It might be out there, but I'm not sure where to find it. 6% is really the highest percentage of alcohol in commonly available beer. The issue has to do with the yeast. Wine yeasts can survive up to around 12% alcohol by volume, but gives you a very different result than beer yeast. Beer yeast really struggles to survive above 5-6% abv.

That's why I don't drink beer if I want to get drunk - I fall asleep before I even get my second buzz on. When I want to get drunk, it's Johnny Walker Black Label baby.

Most real beer drinkers don't drink to get drunk, they drink because they like beer and enjoy the "mellow buzz" they get from having a couple.

I agree, if I want to get drunk, it's good tequila for me. I currently have bottles of 1800 Anejo, Tres Generaciones Reposado and Corraleos Reposado. These are liquors which need no salt or lime/lemon and can be sipped and enjoyed.

Until you hit the floor.

Nine percent is pretty common over here; Super Tennents, Carlsburg Special, Kestrel etc. They get you good and drunk without you really realising, since they taste just like a regular lager. Super Tennents has led to some wacky adventures in the past. I wouldn't recommend nine percents for anyone looking for a good beer, but they do have the advantage of getting you absolutely mashed for under a fiver.

Classy.

TBG, ever heard of a whiskey called Queen Anne's? My girlfriend's father, great Brazilian colonel that he is, calls it "the holy grail." If I got him a bottle, he might actually learn to accept that his daughter is dating a united stater.

I know of it but I don't believe I've tried it. I always tend to drink single malts rather than blends.

Another one:

I am you but you aren't me,
But we're the same as you can see,
I have a body but I lack a mind,
If you haven't met me you must be blind!

Who am I?

Could you do me a favor and ask around next time you hit the pub? Apparently it's only sold in the UK. If you ever find any connections I'd be much obliged.

I don't see why not. I can't promise anything, but I'll PM you if I find a source.

Alright.... here's another one for when you are ready.

Many have debated that when a tree falls in the woods and nobody is around to hear it, it does not produce a sound..... yet when the tree collides with the ground, there is a shock wave and force being produced, which would alter the normal pattern of the air around it, causing a sound wave..... just because there is not an ear to pick it up, doesn't mean there is no sound, correct?

Wouldn't that be the same as if a plane crashed in the ocean and I didn't see it, means it never happened?
Resurrecting old threads here, I just had to add:

If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, how do you know it fell?

There is no word in the English language that rymes with orange, unless you settle for something like hinge, binge, or flange.
