| James Dunn Location: Albuquerque, NM Posts: 122 | Controlling the rain, winds, and temperature for vacations and homelife Weather can be controlled globally, not just endured. What components of weather would you personally like to have controlled? No more ice storms, no hurricanes of any large magnitude, no more tornados, monsoons diminished, droughts elliminated, ... Be proactive, sign your name to a petition with the link found below. www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/774125411 Building a Global Weather Control System - Petition to be sent to Governor Howard Dean Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Please review and select your approval of the petition found at the link above. You can do so Anonymously if you choose. The petition outlines one method of controlling global weather. The intent is to get the public informed as to the reasonable implementation of a Global Weather Control System using already established technologies. The cost of the system is estimated to be a fraction of the amount of money lost each year due to damages from severe weather. The proposed system could control Global Warming, significantly reduce the intensity of hurricanes, promote rainfall where needed, limit the intensity of monsoons, limit the hot and cold temperature extremes, ... Additionally, the system would foster a number of new job and economic opportunities for people all around the World, even in rural communities. After reviewing and signing this petition, if you agree, please forward this content to everyone you believe would be interested in controlling global weather. ![]() Mass'Debator Posts: 4,730 | Yeah sorry... but the weather occurs the way it does for reasons. If you start screwing around with the planet's climates and weather, then you're in for a quick global death. If we pollute, or we melt ice caps, the weather is going to be volatile because nature is trying to adjust and/or fix what's going on for stability...... Just because the weather isn't doing what we like, doesn't give us the right to meddle in it. The more control you try to have, the more control you actually lose...... go with the flow.... man. |

| James Dunn Location: Albuquerque, NM Posts: 122 | So you choose to ignore that mankind in the last 150 years has managed to cause the extinction of greater than 50% of all known species of animals (including bacteria and fungi) and vegetables. Naturists say the Earth is robust and mankind will only exist for a fraction of its life, so it doesn't matter what happens, the Earth will survive. Passivists say "there isn't anything we can do anyway". And activists say "it's the fault of ....". But very few people actually do anything to make the world a better place. If it weren't for the industrialists we would all still have 35 year life expectancies. Although there is some merit in helping to curb the worlds human population, since we don't do it voluntarily. There are already many documented cases of animal extinctions due to global climatic trends. When should an intelligent species do something proactive? I'm sure you've heard of the North Atlantic conveyor (equivalent of the Gulf Stream off the coast of Florida). The conveyor provides warm waters to temper the temperatures for all of Europe. Within the next 50 years the conveyor is expected to deminish to the point where the weather in England will be similar to that of Northern Michigan and Canada. That's a natural phenomena (although I don't know if mankind had something to do with it or not). As it is, Europe must import much of its agricultural products. What happens when the growing season is cut in half? What happens to the plant and animal life of Northern Africa? The mountain animals and flora of Alps? I am sorry I ever visited this forum. I thought the membership would be composed of educated and well informed individuals. Instead, I find mental midgets who want the world to change in a natural way, while ignoring mankinds' historical trends. How much do you think mankind depends upon corn crops? Do you realize there are no pure strains of corn anywhere on the planet Earth? All corn everywhere has been crosspollenated. You say, "So what". A plant virus is like a human virus, they can cause various health problems including death. New viruses form through mutation, naturally. As a consequence, eventually a deadly virus will form that will spread throughout the world and kill all of the corn species. Because they are no longer diverse, they are all genetically similar. It is not a matter of if, it is a matter of when. But we will do what we always do, nothing. Corn is destined to become extinct because we refuse to be proactive and maintain diversity of the species. Surviving on planet Earth is going to become much more difficult in the not too distant future! And it will be this way because people like yourselves are too weak to become proactive. You would rather be dead, than be proved wrong. |

We have learned just how complex a system this planet is, and now we're more reluctant to jump in with a "fix" without trying to project how that will play out in the long run. We certainly don't understand climate well enough yet to go changing nature's way of doing things, at least directly (indirectly, we're doing plenty without knowing the long-term effects). Who gets to decide what weather is best for everyone? A ski resort will enjoy a heavy snow, while the towns at the base of the mountains will prefer no snow at all. Maybe someday we will be able to micro-manage the climate, but not until we have a lot more information and understanding than we do now.
