Still, nice to be in the original line-up! ![]() I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. So far i would think Isherwood is up there; he is the only one that has made an impression on me so far. oops legs. |

I just think it's nice to compliment the other debaters. And damnit, I'm a nice guy, and people like me! If you want to make it onto someone's list, make a list of your own; they might reciprocate. BTW: Matt, Chris -- your lack of debate time is exactly why you got bumped from my list. I love watching both of you go to town on someone, and if I made this a top fifteen or top twenty, I'd put you right back on. I think we all need to look at this as inclusive, rather than exclusive; like I said, it's just a way to compliment each other, because it's nice to be complimented, and I don't think we do it enough. As for the legs from Tinybear: all horrifying, because of who they're attached to. My wife has better legs than any of them. "Would you like some pie, Dr. Stark?" "Science is my pie. Chaos 5)RickSP 6)Osborn F Enready (even though he loves his guns, he hasn't shot me yet) 7)bishop 8)MattW 9)CoffeeSaint 10)Milton Bradley My list has some I mostly agree with, some I never agree with, and one or two I rarely engage. For me what matters is the ability to stucture your own points that can be supported with historical facts or studies or links. I have no respect for people who bait and name call. No respect for people who cut and paste other peoples thoughts and add a smarmy line at the end. None of these people do that. And they have all made me work and think. Kudos for that. I love it! You are number 2 because you are capable of supporting something I completly disagree with without (for the most part) being irrational or nasty. I do respect the idea of divirsity of opinion. I just prefer that those who see things differently not insist they are the only ones gifted with rational thought. Love ya, really. You make my days interesting. | BANNED Location: New York Posts: 4,217 | Single-minded dedication to an ideal is truly admirable. But when someone does not have the ability to acknowledge and adapt to point counter to their own is when I feel a person fails as a debater. In debate, the winner is not the one who builds the biggest and best wall and smashes the other person's wall to pieces. The winner is the one who sees the strength of their opponent's wall and then finds the small cracks in it, works through it, and finds their way to the other side. If the opponent can only think to SMASH SMASH SMASH <images of the Incredible Hulk> while their wall is being slowly eroded, they are only that much worse. The next level down are the ones who present their wall in an argument where their wall has no place. They just plop it right down and hope for someone to start trying to erode or smash it, instead of finding a way to include their wall in the debate. Then, the bottom level of opponent, is the one that doesn't even try to smash your wall or erode it. They insult you for building an ugly wall or direct comments at you in a way that has nothing to do with your wall. --- So here's the next spin on this topic... what are your own personal debating flaws? If you don't think you belong on your own best list... if you wouldn't vote for yourself, then what are your flaws? --- I know that mine is that I never present a wall. I find the flaws in other's walls and try to make them see those flaws so they can make their wall better. But people don't like being told their work is faulty, so instead they criticize me and my wall... even though they don't know what it is. To correct my flaw, instead of trying to point out the flaws so that someone can refine and correct, I should just present my wall to them and then erode theirs and say "eff them if they can't make a good wall". |

They are all so cute, and everyone knows that they will run the major corporations, take all the important positions in government and lead the scientific community to wonderous advances. Tight butts and winning smiles ARE the markers of ability, after all.
