| Cymru am Beth! Location: London. Posts: 52 | Concrete did you know that the production and setting of concreate emits more CO2 gas then cars factories and pwer stations put together. Concreate stops emitting CO2 after a hundred years (on average). If there is anything that is destroying the atmosphere, the environment and is contributing enormously to global warming is it the production of concreate IT NEEDS TO BE BANNED BEFORE WE CAN CONCENTRATE ON OTHER METHODS OF STOPPING GLOBAL WARMING ![]() Agus Beannacht! |

People (and the politicians they elect) would rather ensure disaster in the long term than sacrifice comfort in the short term. Until people become seriously frightened by ever-more-frequent disasters, they won't accept any manner of truly effective measures. And by "people" I mean Westerners. The fact is that the process is now being driven by China, India, etc. in a way that makes it all the more inevitable. And just when even the Republicans were finally catching on (maybe) ... --"The CO2 emissions due to calcination are formed when the raw materials (mostly limestone and clay) are heated to over 2500°F and CO2 is liberated from the decomposed limestone. As concrete ages, it carbonates and reabsorbs the CO2 released during calcination. Calcination is a necessary key to cement production. Therefore, the focus of reductions in CO2 emissions during cement manufacturing is on energy use."-- . I don't suffer from insanity... I thoroughly enjoy it | ||

| Cymru am Beth! Location: London. Posts: 52 | so you think i just made that up on the spot did ye? funny shit... concreate used in the roman empire had different 'ingrediants' to it. concreate used these days is a lot worse. how can you label what i say is rubbish? there is quite a clear lack of intellect in this forum... cement is different to concreate i think you'll find. but, hey, whatever - lets not give a flying f*ck about what i say Agus Beannacht! DEFINATELY HOPE NOT!!! Scrappy, maybe we would care about what you say. All we are asking is that you provide documentation of it. Surely that isn`t such a unreasonable request is it? this should interest you. i'm a builder and i've never heard of concrete being made like that these days. and the cement thing. yea they are different things. cement can be used on its own as well as other materials. you can use it to make plaster. its a very versatile substance BUT not good for the skin, lungs or environment nethertheless. Quote:
Commentary: Concrete from Bill Hammack's Engineering & Life Radio Program have a gander at this. it shows that roman concrete is different to modern concrete. EcoSmart Concrete - The Facts read this and tell me why they change the use of cement if concrete is so 'harmless' as you believe it is. Concrete emits a significant amount of CO2, fact. i've heard it from builders, decoraters and civil worker - people who work with concrete! they should know because they are the dogs bollocks of the construction industry.
