i used to go to school in pittsburgh, and my former best friend went to school in philly... saw PA from border to border... there are 3 major cities in the state (pitt, philly and harrisburgh), and miles upon miles of boondock, podunk towns in between. you go to a rural spot of PA and you might as well be in the deep south.

my roommate at pitt came from one of these redneck spots.. he told me stories about how there was the solitary black kid on the highschool football team. and, he told me about how the local whities burnt a cross on his lawn. he also spit out the word "nigger" with genuine ease - he was so used to saying it, in fact, that the dumb shit would even say it when i had black friends in our room! (what a winner, eh?)

moral of the story is that PA's full of ignorant bigots, which is why dripping excrements like santorum are in office.

A friend of mine in NY has family in a place called Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. This is how he describes the state: "Two cities separated by Appalachia."

i also went on a weekend vacation to the poconos about 8 years ago... amazing how there were so many shops and events that started with the letter "K", rather than "C".... (as in KKK).

That is the same in Santa Fe, TX. The Grand Dragon's house is surrounded by dragon lawn crap. Incidentally, the rest of the neighborhood is populated by trailer houses.
