I make only one pledge as staying on as lefty leader and that is that I will start threads trying to counter left wing ideas, not as devils advocate but as a born again liberal. There's also an option to abstain if your sulky about these options for leader, but it's your own damn fault for not participating in the previous thread. With the War on Freedom being waged these days, I've put human rights, freedoms, ahead of anything else. So I've looked into academic work regarding rights, Popper, Hayek, Berlin, Locke etc and more and more I see the incompatability of keeping freedom alongside any kind of planned economy. The moment we all equally share equally in something, then we have the group, or a body "representing" the group, prioritising it's uses. When we have prioritising, we start to get involved in the imposition of an ethical code, one that is not focused upon the freedom of the individual but the strength of the collective. Besides, the type of anarcho-communist commune that I was previously imaging is possible under capitalism anyway, so there is no need to undermine property rights, which have been the foundation of other rights as Marx notes himself. I'll send a message to Sean now telling him to switch leadership to Matt.
