Leadership Contest

The job of all high mighty chairman of the lefties is up for grabs. Or sale, if theres actually competition for this role.

I have over time lost my left wing persuasion. The left is fairly broad, so when we set this group up it was with those who seek "social solutions to social problems" in mind, or something to that affect. I no longer consider that my outlook. I see it as dangerous to the individuals rights for policies to be enacted for the benefit of "the majority", and even more dangerous to encourage governments to take up such an attitude.

As such, I'm giving up the post as lefty leader. If your interested in being the Dear Leader, put your name down beneath. If theres a few of you, I'll hold a poll.

Your job as HRH is to keep out none lefties and to make sure the beer supply is still running. It's tough but I'm sure someones up to it.

Me! Me! The uniforms alone make it worthwhile....

You would of course have to give up the job of beer supplier. We can't you in control of the forum AND the beer, that's the greatest tyranny of all

Being a democracy, have nominations in this thread..........
then you should start a poll in another thread for the members to vote.

Basically, I dont want it.
Quote:
Quote by: Sherman Statement
Sherman was proposed as a Republican candidate for the presidential election of 1884, but declined as emphatically as possible, saying, "If nominated I will not run; if elected I will not serve." Such a categorical rejection of a candidacy is now referred to as a "Sherman Statement."
Al Gore has recently stated he will not make the "Sherman Statement"
Meaning he may run
He is emphatically undecided about running.

You will never hear bush junior quote any of Shermans words:
Quote:
I confess, without shame, that I am sick and tired of fighting—its glory is all moonshine; even success the most brilliant is over dead and mangled bodies, with the anguish and lamentations of distant families, appealing to me for sons, husbands, and fathers ... it is only those who have never heard a shot, never heard the shriek and groans of the wounded and lacerated ... that cry aloud for more blood, more vengeance, more desolation.[51]
Because bush is insulated from the reality. Or maybe he has a grotesque interest in it. He has no regrets about the carnage of war, though.

Both quotes found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Tecumseh_Sherman

That's perhaps the finest quote regarding war I've ever heard. Thanks for posting it.

And yes when I've got some nominations I'll put a poll up.

Come on people, I need to compete against Matt, it's not an election if only one man is up for the leadership. What kind of lefties are ya, where are the squabbles and bloody infighting?

This is abysmal. Okay, I'm standing for election, just so we can have a semblance of democracy.
