Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage act into Law. Bush is More Pro Gay rights than anyone, If he got his amendment...It could later be Overturned like Prohibition. This would Force Gay rights on the whole Country. Pardon me for being a Southern Conservative, I'm with Strom on States Rights. Under the current Laws of North Carolina, Our State doesn't have to accept a Gay couple that moves here from California where they may have been Married...because some Mayor was trying to make a name for himself & sow up his re-election. If Your Gay & you wanna get Married in Ca, thats just fine with me, so long as it stays in California. Some people are offended by Howard Stern or Bubba the Love sponge...I'm offended by Primetime shows like Queer Eye. I'm not Homophobic, I'm not Anti rights, but Gays need to accept Rights under the terminology "Cival Union". The word Marriage was borrowed by Our Gov't, from the Church, to promote Family. So It bothers me that Gays push for usage of the Word, because they're asking their Gov't to give them something that the Gov't doesn't control. I believe they want the word because to them it would Validate what they do, others think they want usage of the Word because they want to anger Christians & Hedrosexuals. Half of the people who read what I have written here would disect it & Stereotype me, but thats because they believe differently. I understand that Animals of the same gender have Sex, but I also have heard of People having Sex with Animals, so just because you can argue that point...it doesn't make it right. I wonder If any Animals of the same Gender have the ability to reproduce together. I wonder why HIV hit the Homosexual community the hardest first, could it be that Our seed is important to God & Homosexuality threatened it? Why don't we have some Pro Gay Church create a new Definition? Could they call it Garriage & define it as being between people of the Same sex? Then we could test the Divorce rates of Marriage & Garriage. This Country was founded on seperation of Church & State, so just like a Church couldn't impose Prayer in public School...how could the Gov't impose Gay Marriage on the Church's believers?

A) look up a copy of the constitution and learn how the constitution is amended B) grab a map and figure out which states (or thier reps which want to be re-elected) in those states will actually ratify that amendment. It aint going to happen! But of course all your fellow conservatives who never travel outside the south don't know that! If Bush somehow got his amendment passed & it was later overturned, then Bush aiding the Amendment would be the same as if he had supported it...because this method is the only way Gay Marriage could become legal Law of the land overnight. Otherwise States would argue this matter for decades before it were a reality in all states.

No one was forcing People in Florida to listen to Bubba the Love sponge either, but the Radio show was an early morning show that children could tune into, & the FCC deemed it Vulgar. Our children could be at a friends house and see Queer Eye, because they see it on TV they could think Homosexuality was appropriate, but this conflicts with Our religion so to Us, it's offensive. Mia, I said "Our children", as in Southern Christian children, I don't have children, nor am I married. We all know children watch TV without their parents always being present. I'm not saying we can't have that show, I was comparing that being offensive to me with Bubba the love sponge being offensive to some.

I have to look at this from my perspective which is Christian, and I'm far from casting a stone, I just think that If all rights afforded straight married couples is given to Gays under the title Civil Union, that should be enough...the demand of the word Marriage is an attack on my religion.

I'm not without Sin, but in Leviticus it is said that "A Man who lays with a Man as a Man would lay with a Woman, will not be allowed to enter the kingdom of God." Blasphemy is the only other Sin that carries that weight, and that's only if You don't ask for forgiveness.

When She died, He moved a Man 35 years his Junior in, and later they declared themselves Married. They then decided to paint various parts of their estate in Rainbow colors, and they named theri street "April Flowers". I live in the rural Mountains of western NC, and to most people here what I have just described was obscene. Some parents in my town are less educated and they run their mouths about Gays in front of their children, those children tell what they hear from their parents to other children on the school bus as they pass this estate daily. The children with good parents, whom would have chosen to wait to explain this, were forced to inform their children earlier than they would of wanted. TV shows children accidentaly see cause this same scenario. Other parts of Our country accept this more than my region, I understand that, but here We look at Homosexuality as a Disease of the Mind...perpetrated by Satan to keep people from God. I'm moderate enough to concede rights because Christians aren't supposed to punnish Sinners, but Gays don't require the word Marriage. They want that word because to them it validates what they are.
