![]() Marksman Location: "A place that cannot be found except by those who already know where it is." Posts: 199 | If you could go back in time, what would you change? A very hypothetical question to be sure, what would you change if you could travel back in time and how would this make today's society better? Also, maybe think about what else your choice would change. No holds bar here; just post an idea and support it. Your comments are appreciated. I see no reason to think the competition between USSR and USA would have significantly changed. There probably never would have been an Israel, since that was Europe's, the USA's, and USSR's idea to dump the surviving Jewish refugees outside of Europe. |

| Paladin Location: Narnia Posts: 4,277 | That brings up an interesting question: if there was no Israel, would there be no 9/11? The cause of the Palestinians is a rallying cry for many a Muslim extremist, but just how much do they really care? Is it a cause or an excuse? Israel isn't the biggest issue Bin Laden had against the USA, having US troops on Saudi soil in the Gulf War alone would have provoked 9/11. I'd also vote for clipping W's grandfather, that would have spared us two lousey presidents. |

| pregnant with truth Posts: 2,272 | I'd probably do some observing, myself. I'd be reluctant to change anything for fear of creating something worse. I always wondered what would have happened if someone gave Hendrix a recording of Rhandy Roads. Maybe he wouldn't have gotten bored so quickly? That's pretty much all I would dare to alter. Oh and I'd take back that one time I was an asshole. heh |

| Igneous Magma Posts: 244 | I would force Emperor Akbar The great to make huge naval fleet. That would ensure no European invasion in India . Bangladesh, India and Pakistan could be the same old India and no sectarian riots. My parents would have been in their ancestral home in India . If India could have defended the European inavsions in that time - there would have been no British empire, no Lawrence of Arabia and no Israel-Palestinian conflict too. |

![]() Away Location: Scotland, Central Lowlands Posts: 3,039 | Going back in time is never a good idea. Changing even the slightest thing could screw up the world pretty badly, and going back and getting rid of Hitler or something like that would probably result in you being deleted from existence. After all, killing Hitler would mean there never was a Hitler to go back in time to kill and you never would have gone back in time in the first place, in which case, you'd have no way of returning to the present day. I'm pretty sure it would all end with the universe imploding. In a nutshell, time travel of any sort is way too risky. Unless you had a security policy where you go back in time to prevent yourself from ever having gone back in time. Damn, time travel is confusing. |

| Principled Observer Location: Toledo, Ohio Posts: 13,873 | I would go back to the times of the American Revolution from England (hopefully at my current age and knowledge level), and I would try to earn a name during the revolt to become close to George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, so I could sit in on the debate, making sure that there was a total, and explicit dictionary of all words and terms used in the Constitution, and Bill of Rights, and that all law must be made in accordance with those terms and definitions duly recognized. This would have prevented the subversion of the U.S. Constitution in the manner that has taken shape, and would have made the corporatist subversion that we are all so intimately aware of much harder to conceal, possibly even preventing attacks of "that nature" all-together.
