Which problems would these be? Having to deal with a US government bogged down in Iraq which is impotently sputtering threats? I don't see Iran actually having any problems. Its the US that has all the problems with this scenario.

At this point in time, the Iran issue does not have to be dealt with. If we leave them alone, they might do the same for us. Of course, they could also decide to declare war on us 'infedels', in which case we need to turn their country into a parking lot before they get a chance to do the same to us.
